Alexandra Verschuuren

conceptueel - installatie - performance

I am a performance artist and choreographer exploring and questioning the human body when it is confronted with discomfort. The body is addressed from a multidimensional perspective, being from the physical, emotional, sensorial, relational, and unconscious points of view. My current work is focused on performative installations exploring the public and private spaces through human constructions. I am investigating the interaction between the performer and the spectator and how human relationships play out when they are staged. I aim to shed light on the unexpected experience of our interactions and confront the visitors with the assumptions that we have around a performance. By addressing these topics, I hope to broaden the conversational reach and create awareness about how we interact with each other in the performance of life.

(Peek show) - Alexandra Verschuuren was a resident at …ism project space where she explored the interaction with the passers-by in the street of Westeinde in The Hague (NL). The project, (Peek show), was initiated from her performance research (Get a room), which revolves around the questionable paradox on how to perform in private. - Concept development, research, performer: Alexandra Verschuuren - Filmed by: Guillem Gongora Moral - Supported by: ...ism project space, Hoogtij - Many thanks to Noud Heerkens, Guillem Gongora Moral, Jeannette Slutter, Anastasia Loginova, Yvette Teeuwen, Roos Hoffman, Nathalie Vermeiren, Dorothea Mende, João Dinis Pinho, Danielle Huyghe and Gerard Sangra.
