Berenice Staiger

community - social - conceptual

Bérénice Staiger is a Rotterdam artist, born in Germany. In her work, Bérénice explores different notions of motherhood: care, memories of one's childhood, the passing on of information such as language/dialect, family traditions and customs. She is also interested in recurring patterns related to parenting. From birth it is a game between parent and child of searching for proximity and distance. Raising a child involves a lot of repetition; repetition to master movements, repetition to learn a language, etc. Also as a parent in the care of a child one encounters elements of repetition and rhythm. Bérénice explores these elements in her work in different media such as drawing, community projects, encounters, discussions, performances, mapping and archiving.
