Ine Lamers

In the large color photographs by Ine Lamers (Wychen, 1954) the human environment and urban architecture are central. The latter is remarkably empty and interchangeable with her. She always seems to be looking for an event that breaks through the uniformity. After the empty balconies in Rotterdam, the semi-public spaces in housing complexes in London and New York, the holiday homes in Friesland at night, she took up photography in Eastern Europe. Many of her works look as if something is about to happen, like an empty stage on which the action is about to take place. Artificial night lighting supports this tension.
