mural - public space

Human goodbye is something I like to observe. This often leads to a counter-reaction that you can find in my work. Not so much on the surface, but symbolic, naive and abstract. The behavior on social media, for example, where it is not the quality of the work that matters, but the quantity of posts, followers and likes. I believe the opposite matters.

Sometime in 2005 I started spraying graffiti in and around Rotterdam. This was my first experience with artistic expression in the public space. I had been drawing long before that. As a child, drawing kept me away from reality and its pressures. Today it still does. In addition to making murals, where my focus is at the moment, I animate, illustrate and create public interventions. It has become an obsession in which I feel wonderful when I work on a piece. The child who started everything is still omnipresent in current work and person. I strongly believe that one should cherish one's inner child

COINCIDENTIA OPPOSITORUM - I have always been mesmerized by occult engravings about alchemy, kabbalah and other mystical topics. These painting I made from found household waste are an assamblage of symbols, icons and imagery used in old writings and books about western esotericism. Pow! Wow! Rotterdam gave me the oppotunity to expose these works in this wonderfull industrial location called the HAKA-building. The painting are about opposites in general that should provide universal balance.
