Van Santen Bolleurs are an artist duo from Rotterdam working at the crossroads of the disciplines, photography, video and sculpture.
Together they make colorful images and videos in which home,
garden and kitchen objects are central. They use the recognizable everyday life to give the viewer a sense of recognition, after which all assumptions and assumptions can be brought down. Symbols from the offline and online world, from the high and low culture, are mixed in surprising ways in order to create a new meaning. The duo has a predilection for surrealism and absurdity. Their humorous view of the world is intended as an antidote to our performance-oriented stress society. The work deliberately has this light-footed and accessible appearance, but contains deeper layers that only reveal themselves in the second or third instance.
