Als kunstenaar ontwikkelen we beelden met een visie op actuele gebeurtenissen, zoals die voelbaar zijn in onze directe omgeving. Het is onze missie met de beelden te verleiden, om vervolgens een dieper liggende boodschap te onthullen die twijfel veroorzaakt en aanzet tot heroverweging. Dit bereiken we door de eigen ontwikkelde werkwijze te blijven analyseren, herontdekken, en vernieuwen om zo bij te dragen aan een dieper inzicht in de wereld waarin we samen leven.
Als kunstenaarsduo werken we sinds 1999 samen aan een uitgebreid oeuvre. Onze gezamenlijke energie en aandacht is altijd terug te vinden in alle kunstwerken, die zich verhouden tot de stad Rotterdam en de ontwikkelingen in de wereld. De podia in de kunst,- en designwereld zorgen voor de zichtbaarheid en de verkoop en nieuwe vragen. Hierin realiseren we onze eigen ruimte en betekenis. Het atelier is het episch centrum, van waaruit met een kleine groep specialisten nieuw werk ontstaat.

    • Werken waarin de natuur en het landschap als zowel beschermend als bedreigd fenomeen het uitgangspunt is. Een deel is verbonden aan het verdwijnen van mensen op de vlucht, in zee, in bossen (branden), in bergen en woestijnen, op hun weg naar Europa en op zoek naar een nieuw bestaan. Een ander deel gaat over het verdwijnen van de natuur zelf, als gevolg van ons menselijk handelen.

    • Samen met een groep recent afgestudeerden van Nederlandse en Belgische academisch wordt gewerkt aan een gezamenlijk tentoonstellingsproject n.a.v. atelierbezoeken, gesprekken en samenwerking. Als Master zijn we verantwoordelijk voor het proces. Op basis van gelijkwaardigheid wordt gezamenlijk de expositie vormgegeven. Er zullen negen groepen in dit jaar exposeren.

    "Greenpower"

    • In opdracht van Rotterdamse dakendagen hebben we de installatie "Greenpower" gemaakt. Het is een collectie niet bestaande groeivormen in ultramarijn blauw wolvilt, die zich een weg baant vanuit de airco- en afzuiginstallaties op de daken van Zuidplein, waaronder een groot aantal fasfoodketens haar vervuilde vleesluchten naar buiten stoot. "Greenpower" is één van de ongeveer 25 kunstwerken die in opdracht speciaal voor het project "Boven op Zuid" zijn gemaakt. Er waren 15.000 bezoekers.

    • Tentoonstelling van twintig internationale kunstenaars en designers, die in hun werk bloemen en planten als onderwerp hebben. Curator Michaela Breasel heeft gezocht naar een grote verscheidenheid in ambachtelijke toepassingen op het hoogste niviveau, waarin de techniek optimaal ten dienste staat van het concept. Het grootste deel van de kunstenaars komt uit Duitsland, Nederland, Frankrijk en Groot Brittanië.

    No One Is Illegal

    • S.M.A.K. Gent heeft Driessens en van den Baar uitgenodigd het project "No One Is Illegal" in Zaal 1 te presenteren. Om de zaal 'te vukllen" is het atelier van de kunstenaars overgebracht naar het museum om in Zaal 1 met vrijwilligers (mensen die enige ervaring met textiel hebben) een nieuw collectie Duinkerke werken te maken die gedurende de tentoonstelling verkocht werd aan bezoekers. Van de 80 aldaar ontstane werken zijn er 62 verkocht.

    • De Installatie "No One Is Illegal" is een life size tent van wolvilt, volledig ingericht met wolvilten huisraad, als impressie van een tijdelijk onderkomen van een vluchtelingengezin in de bossen rond Duinkerke (FR), op hun tocht naar Engeland hier gestrand. Dit werk dient als teaser voor de collectie Duinkerke werken, A3 wolvilt schilderijen aan de muur gepresenteerd, die voor € 350,- te koop zijn, waarvan de helft wordt gedoneerd aan hulp aan deze vluchtelingen.

Ze zijn te koop, slechts 8 exemplaren per kunstenaar, € 35,- per stuk. Driessens en van den Baar doneert de opbrengst aan Saar Depuydt en Nathalie Ruysschaert, die eten en kleding verzamelen voor vluchtelingen die stranden in de bossen rond Duinkerke.

If they don't succeed, the plants will be the first traces left on the streets.

    Duinkerke - No One Is Illegal

    • Duinkerke is the series of art works made about refugees in the forests around Duinkerke FR who try to reach England by boat. Saar Depuydt and her friends from Gent drive up and down every weekend to help them with food, tents and clothes. Three pictures of Saar have been used to develop three felt artworks, made over and over again ( like Saar's work every weekend) to sell. Half of the € 350,- per work is sent to Saar. The collection still grows, from the 120 artworks, 84 have been sold.

    • Concept voor de scenografie en de kostuums voor zangers, dansers en poppen voor de kameropera Le Vin Herbé, in opdracht van Ulrike Quade Company. In nauwe samenwerking met Ulrike Quade vanuit de muziek en de teksten ontwerpen gemaakt en die tussen september 2021 en maart 2022 in het atelier in Rotterdam met drie assistenten uitgevoerd. In de maand maart 2022 hebben de voorstellingen plaatsgevonden.
