Through music creation as an artistic practice, I study human conditions with a focus on affect, perception and relation. Community, commoning and decentralization are particularly important areas of research and guideposts for my practice. I work in collaborative projects consisting of texts, scores, performances, videos and installations that attempt to realize ways of being together based in intimacy, hope and generosity. Meaningful participation is an integral part of the processes that I engage in, and often takes the form in the development of methods for decentralized music creation. Education and organizing work with groups such as Family Dinner, Fire is Scary, and Hache Collective also plays a significant role in my socially-engaged practice. With this work I critique art and music scenes and propose alternatives to create more accessible, inclusive and vital communities.

Family Dinner - Family Dinner is a cookbook / collection of printed works, as well as a documentation of the first edition of the Family Dinner residency in which a group of artists gathered to study, discuss and work through the themes of hospitality, sharing and gifts. Family Dinner is an art space/residency/project/dream starting from the basis of food and community, organized by Charli Herrington and Gordon H. Williams. It is built upon a collective research on reproductive labor— not just cooking and collecting recipes, but an experiment through learning, cooking, eating and cleaning together. Family Dinner is based in Rotterdam and focuses on supporting local artists, food growers and reproductive laborers.

This is a difficult email to send. - I wrote This is a difficult email to send. after a cooperative that I volunteered with announced that it was shutting its doors. The title is a direct quote from the final email of the cooperative’s directors. In this piece, electronic and live sound, as well as video, come together to convey a sense of inevitability- that which cannot be avoided. Sol Enae Lee provided the design and animation for this work.
The Second Law of Thermodynamics - The Second Law of Thermodynamics is a piece written for an audience to perform. The score consists of twelve parts which progress from highly structured and ordered instructions, to gradually more vague and ambiguous instructions. The duration and content are guided, but indeterminate.
