I am primarily an audiovisual artist, working with video installation, text and photography. Apart from my artistic schooling, I have a theoretical background in cultural analysis.
Thematically, my practice is concerned with matters of time and temporality. I am searching for ways of experiencing and expressing time that focus on the daily. I look at our routines and try to develop an understanding of how those, too, can lead to change and progression, rather than only our capitalistic sense of productivity.
Methodically, I gravitate towards small and — for me — accessible ways of gathering material. That is to say, with the tools I already have, in the environment I’m already in. This allows me to work intuitively and to return to the chosen matter endlessly. This also means that different forms of “montage” play an important role in my creative process, as it is not just the gathered material itself, but how I bring these snippets together, that creates my works.
Next to my individual practice, I am part of the audiovisual collective zorm. Each month, we come together to share a meal and show the others a minute of material we created. Occasionally, we make larger works together. We have also started a series of open evenings, where we invite others to participate in our working methods.
