About Us:
Kapish is a new Rotterdam-based foundation formed by the fusion of Squish and Kollection Kitsch. Squish is a queer-feminist cultural platform that supports LGBTQ+ culture makers through multidisciplinary events promoting self-representation and peer support. Kollection Kitsch aims to democratize art by showcasing local working-class artists and transforming unconventional spaces into art venues, focusing on rejected and “bad” aesthetics or themes.
Our team consists of at least two members who will be employed by the foundation on a freelance or zero-hour contract basis, with one member serving as the director. The board will focus on administrative and financial oversight, while the director handles artistic direction and implementation.
Why Join Us?
We’re looking for committed individuals to join our board and help shape our strategic direction. The two organizations have operated mainly on a voluntary basis since their inception in 2020, and we want to ensure better financial compensation for collaborating artists and team members. Becoming a foundation opens up more funding opportunities.
Key Roles:
We aim to keep the workload and involvement of board members flexible. A yearly meeting is required, and the treasurer should expect a quarterly time investment. We are open to handling most administrative and financial tasks but would be happy to let the board take care of these responsibilities. We are seeking candidates for the following positions:
Chairperson: Leads the board and organizes meetings.
Secretary: Handles meeting minutes and documentation.
Treasurer: Prepares financial reports and oversees records. The Secretary and Treasurer roles can be combined.
Ideal Candidates Should:
Have a connection with queer-feminist, non-Dutch and working-class communities
Have skills in finance, cultural management, community organizing, or experience in a similar position
Be reliable strong communicators and collaborators
Attend at least one board meeting per year; additional meetings as needed
Review and approve the annual financial overview within six months after the fiscal year
Ensure accurate financial record-keeping
Compensation:
Board members can be reimbursed for expenses and receive a small meeting fee. Any additional involvement in events must be voluntary, as required by law.
