Halfway this year I'll start working on the follow up plan based on the one year research I did on 'How young adults deal with grief and loss after losing a loved one by death (2022/2023)', this research was financial supported by Stimuleringsfonds. I will organize some events with KIOSK Rotterdam & Stichting Troost voor Tranen to get more insights of different grieving rituals from people from various backgrounds/countries which I will use in the outcome of this project.

Second edition of the Berlin Comic Exchange I organize/host with alea rodriguez at Renate Comics Berlin. On behalf of Cross Comix Rotterdam I'll be leading this 4 day exchange program between 10 comic artists (5 from the Netherlands and 5 from Berlin). Goal of this exchange program is to give (upcoming) comic artists the chance to learn from eachother by working in pairs of two, expand their International network and to get to know the local comic and publishing scene.

Will table with my publications at OPZICH festival for literature in Heerlen at the publisher marker organized by WOBBY. Together with the Cross Comix team I will also make a report on this festivals activities for our socials.

I am part of the Cross Comix team since 2025 & help our organization grow in future plans; longterm vision/branding, become (even) more inclusive as whole & reaching a wider audience (Local as outside of Rotterdam & International). I develop new concepts with the team, write project plans where needed, approach (new) collaboration partners, assist & lead during projects. I also write (visual) reports about (indie) bookstores & events on our socials to share insights with our followers.

My illustration 'Money, fame and powerrr' was published in this quarter edition of MURF/MURW magazine.

On behalf of Cross Comix I organize the second edition of the Berlin Comic Exchange together with alea rodriguez from Renate Comics. We will take care of the open call (visuals & text), the selection procedure, communication , the program during the exchange (which will take place this spring) and help the participating artists preparing their trip to Berlin. alea and I will be leading this 4 day exchange program at Renate Comics and make sure everyone has a good time.

Working on my second (visual) publication where I collect some of my favorite works of Edgar Allan Poe (which are in public domain) combined with my own illustrations.

Was invited to do a presentation about my book & projects together with Studio Soela (an architect duo from Surinam). Studio Soela and I will dive into eachothers works/projects live on stage to discuss the deeper meaning behind our works and talk with the audience about how we try to make a social impact via the things we make. Circus Calypso will be leaded by the host, Anita Jankie at Tante Nino.

I approached ArtEZ art academy (the comic department) in Zwolle to collobrate with me & alea rodriguez (from Renate Comics, Berlin). Since their first year students visiting Berlin every year, we thought we could help them out in offering a cool comic program for their students in Berlin. alea and I will prepare/take care & host a two-day educational program for the students of ArtEZ (in 2026), where they will get to know the local comic scene in Berlin and work together on a school assigment.

Preparing a project for 2026/2027 with the focus on street safety for women/girls in Rotterdam in collaboration with Cultuur Concreet.

I was selected to table at Montréals International Independed Publisher festival! EXPOZINE festival took place on November 15 and 16 at 1025 Bélanger. Here I sold my book, the Berlin Comix Exchange publication & other smaller publications.

Hosted a claypin workshop at DEIK Gallery in Delft spread out over 2 sessions.

We moved the Traveling Tiny Zine Library exhibition from the Netherlands to the States to Here to Sunday's in New York. During this day visitors could walk in and check out all the zines exhibited and participate at our creative workshops.

During TTZL at Pansy in Amsterdam we organized a exhibition with over 60 tiny zines made by artists from all around the world. Visitors could check/read all the zines and participating at the various creative workshops we gave during the day.

Organized a Summer edition of the Tiny Art Market at DEIK gallery in Delft together with Koen Noorderbos (the owner of this gallery). We took care of the open call, the selection procedure, communication & promotion (via social media, local newpapers & radio) and were coordinating this event during the day (building up and take down the market, welcoming visitors, preparing the Vegan lunch for all artists and made sure the day went smooth for everyone).

Gave a zine workshop at DEIK gallery.

I prepared the Berlin Comic Exchange exhibition for during Cross Comix in Rotterdam at De Doelen (which took place on 12/13 September). I designed all display panels for this exhibition and build up the exhibition among other preperation tasks for Cross Comix festival. On the panels the visitors of the festival could see some of the spreads of our publication + some behind the scene photo's of the whole exchange. The publication was also for sale at the zine kiosk at Cross Comix.

This cute gallery and artshop in Delft is selling my works the whole year around. You can also find some of my stuff in the Zine vending machine too.

I invited DAMBOOKCLUB to organize a bookreading during our exhibition 'Buku Stories'. Together with them and 10 artists of colour we will read essays from the book 'Art on my mind' by Bell Hooks and have a public conversation about the book after. Anyone interested welcome to listen to this bookreading from 13.30-16.00.

We organized an Artbook market at Niffo where 10+ artists from diverse backgrounds will display and sell their prints, zines, books and more. Feel free to come on by. From 14.00 until 17.00 you are welcome to come and listen/watch to my book presentation from my book 'My colour doesn't define me...' Here you have the chance to ask all your questions about my book and to have an open conversation about racism (share your experiences and thoughts) in a Safe Space. After this I will do a small presentation together with Mediterranea (NL), an organization that is helping refugees on the oceans and on land against the violence attacks and bad treatment by the EU.

This is an private table talk I was asked to because of the book I've published and the exhibition 'Buku Stories' I organized together with Gallery Niffo. During this table talk I and other artists of colour from Rotterdam and from Baltimore (US) will talk about making art as a person of colour vs. the (art) community we are part of. This talk is non accesable for public and will be filmed for a future documantry by TENT.

I was asked to make 3 illustrations of icons from Rotterdam South for a stickerbook. During Rotterdam Artweek we will show some work in progress of this project in C3 Studio.

During Artweek Rotterdam we have the doors open at Niffo Gallery for 3 days for 'Buku stories & events'. In this weekend me and Danny Rumbl will be present the whole time. On Saturday 29 of March we organize 'Connect via Food' & meet the artists, here you can check out our works & books and talk to us. We offer you some Indonesian, Surinam and Dutch snacks during this day. On Sunday there's 'weave and chatter' & meet the artists, here you can draw and talk with us during that day.

Coming soon, Buku Stories, a group exhibition where we celebrate illustrators & (self)publishers of colour who share their love for visual storytelling via illustrations and books! Opening on Sunday 23 of March at Niffo Gallery from 14.30-17.00. From there we offer 5 weeks full of events! I exhibit 3 new A4 prints inspired on my book 'my colour doesn't define me...' and my book ofcourse, which you can purchase at gallery Niffo during this exhibition. In collaboration with the Cousinsbychoice Collective from Rotterdam I organized the Traveling Tiny Zine Library at Pansy in Amsterdam (this as as part of a month full of tiny exhibitions at this location). We took take care of the Open Call, promotion/graphic designs, selection procedure, communication, anything for preparing TTZL exhibition 2025 etc.

Together with Comic Artist alea Rodriguez from Renate Comics I worked on the Graphic Design for the publication out of all the collaberation comics made by the 10 comic artists during the Berlin Comic Exchange. This publication is published by Renate Comics Berlin & Cross Comix Rotterdam and availible in Renate Comics (Berlin), Modern Graphics (Berlin) & Nieuw en vanGennep (Rotterdam).

Since the beginning of 2025 I am part of the Cross Comix team in Rotterdam. Cross Comix is a yearly festival for comic lovers and illustrators which is focused on visual story-telling. Next to the yearly festival and makers market, we organize more events throughout the year where we motivate (International) collaberations between (comic) artists and other comic organizations and festivals in Europe.

After years of illustrating my focus has shifted on publishing books. With Burning Desk Books I focus on making visual books and to build a platform for fellow artists of colour, help them out making books, promote their works and to exchange valuable information about the (black) self-publishing community. As in many levels of society the art(book)scene is very white and somewhat posh at times, via this way I hope to make some small changes. Art should be lowkey and accessible for everyone!

Next to this I sell my book via my website and in person during artbook events and events I organize myself.

alea Rodriguez and I hosted this three-day exchange that took place at Renate Comics in Berlin. Five comic artists based in the Netherlands worked together on a collaborative comic zine together with five Berlin-based comic artists. They worked pairs of two (one Berlin artist with one Dutch artist) at Renate to create (minimum) two comic spreads together per pair. The main goals of this exchange: combining different styles, learning from each other & expand their (International) network.

Together with PLASIKBAMBINA from Vetomat I organized a cozy screenprint walk in where people could bring their t-shirt or bag to get the Burning Desk dog illustration (that's on the cover of my book) screenprinted on it. We've planned to do this during the Safe Space event at Vetomat on January 18th, but due the many visitors, presentations and activities we decided to postphone this to this date.

I was asked for the project 'Icons of Rotterdam South' to make 4 illustrations of Icons from my neighbourhood. My illustrations will be included in a publication in the form of a stickerbook.

Together with Vetomat Berlin and Mediterranea ev Berlin (an organization that safes refugees from sinking boats on the mediterranean seas and protects them against violent attacks from the EU boarder ''control''), I organized a Safe Space where publishers of colour could present their books and where we talked openly with visitors bout the subject racism. We had a group exhibition from various publishers and had bookpresentations by: me, Thoko, Stefano Gallieni Mediterranea & KANAL crew Berlin.

After the Safe Space on 18th of January my exhibition was on the walls until 6th of February in Vetomat. Here people could see some of the spreads of my book 'My colour doesn't define me...' and order my book via the Vetomat crew.

I was asked to design an illustration for on t-shirts & coffebags for Radical Roasters (that will be screenprinted by Radical Roasters themselves) that will be sold in their super cool coffee & radical bookstore in Bristol!

On the cozy and cold Christmas edition of Museum markt in Amsterdam I co-hosted the table with Koen Noorderbos of gallery DEIK (from Delft) during this day. We sold works from various artists that are featured in the DEIK gallery shop as the works of myself. I also represented the artworks from the Korean illustrator artist Jooykeh from the 'Charade Show' whom I met during the last Miss Read edition.

Since 2019 I send in drawings for Anonymous Drawings Berlin, here I send in drawings that are not reconizable as/or in name of Burning Desk. I was part of multiple group exhibitions across Berlin/Germany during Anonymous Drawings as so for this years edition.

On behalf of Cross Comix I organized the Berlin Comic Exchange in collaberation with alea Rodriguez (co-founder) of Renate Comics (Berlin). We took care of the communication between Cross Comix & Renate Comics as for the open call (text and visual designs) and communicated with all the applicants, we also promoted this project on social media, made a selection of 10 artists (5 NL based and 5 Berlin based comic artists) and helped all artists to prepare for this exciting exchange!

I was interviewed by Brabants Dagblad about my book 'My colour doesn;t define me...'. Next to the physical publication in the newspaper BD it was published online on their website as well of certain other online newspaper platforms as ED, AD and some other ones. The article is about life as a (self)publisher and the selfpublish community and the subject racism (which is the subject of my book).

Together with Koen Noorderbos from DEIK gallery I organized a Tiny Art Market in his gallery. I designed the open call and made a selection with Koen out of all applicants. During the Tiny Art Market 17 exhibitors sold their tiny artworks & zines. There were some known artists who participated like, Satoshi & Jeroen Funke. I tabled myself as well with my book, zines and prints. And hosted the whole event together with Koen.

During Miss Read I also represented the amazing books/zines of Sanika Phawde, a writer-illustrator, and reportage artist born/raised in Thane (Near Mumbai), India who currently works between New York City and Boston. Through autobiographical comics, visual essays, reportage drawings and illustrated interviews with members of her local community, her work captures and communicates instances of emotional connection and intimacy, queer immigrant culture and conversations people have over meals.

This year I tabled at Miss Read in Berlin again which is a huge Art Book Fair & Festival for booklovers & (small) publishers to promote & sell my new book 'My colour doesn't define me...' On Friday evening we had a opening party for all the artists/publishers who participated and special guests. Every day I had scheduled signing sessions of my book between 16.00 and 18.00. Next to my book I also sold other things like, my zines & illustration prints.

I was selected to table at Shake XL again in Bristol! This is a huge illustration fair where I sold my zines, prints, pins and new book next to 59 other illustrators.

I exhibitted my illustration prints and my new book (My colour doesn't define me...) during Wobby Wonderland next to 30+ other illustrators & (small)publishers. Here we sold our works during the makers market and connected with other artists.

I was selected to table at the Cross Comix festival. Here I sold my new book for the first time (My colour doesn't define me...) next to my prints, zines, handmade pins and other Burning Desk goodies.

I was asked to host a zine workshop during the Cross Comix festival. During this workshop I showed participants all the different variations and possibilities of zines that exhists (by showing a lot of zines from my personal collection). The partticipants could try out to make a zine themselves and I assisted them how they could tell a visual story via a zine (drawing, callage etc.). A maximum of 15 people could participate and make zines during this 2 hour workshop.

After working for almost a year I published my first book myself 'My colour doesn't define me...' which is a visual book about my personal experiences with racism and unconsious bias. The book has 158 pages, is in A5 format and printed in Full Colour and comes with 2 stickers and a button. Published by: Burning Desk Books on 15 september 2024. Price: 22,50 euro. An ongoing drawing collaberation between a group of grafitti/illustrator/zine artists. We work on a collaberation zine for a while now and are not in a rush to finish it soon. Drawing, experimenting and chilling with eachother have the main focus. But one day we will finish our zine(s)!

Small and cozy comic/zine market in Rotterdam I exhibit and sell my works every now and then.

During the Tiny Zine Fest at Niffo Gallery we also opened the group exhibition I organized together with Zoë from Gallery Niffo. I exhibitted next to 8 other artists who are based in Rotterdam and with the co-organizers of the Tiny Zine Fest (Paul Winck/WEIRD and Vetomat). I displayed my work in process of the book I am working on about my personal experiences with racism, and also offered a pre-order. The book I will be publishing myself (Burning Desk Books) around the 15 september this year.

After the first edition in Berlin we organized a Tiny Zine Fest in Rotterdam. 21 International artists and I tabled and sold our mini zines on tiny tables made out of trash by artist SMIRK next to 20+ artists on the community table at Niffo Gallery. We've selected 40+ artists from various backgrounds from Europe, Canada, Thailand, Mexico, USA and Australia to join us. During this event we offered many cool zine and print activities and officialy open the group exhibition on the walls.

Some of my zines/prints were for sale at this Zine event in solidarity with the Argentinian people who since 2023 are dealing with the new reality due to assumption of Javier Milei and his far-right liberal party with totalitarian measures and anty-human rights law implentations. This time 50% of the sales is donated to an organization in Argentina who run a food program for those in need and to Sofia, the only survivor of a massacre against a group of queer people on the 6th of May. F hate!

Roffa.nu approached me to write an article on their website about our upcoming Tiny Zine Fest in Rotterdam on the 9th of june. I wrote a text for on their website with background information about the Tiny Zine Fest and who we are as an organization. They adjusted the text a little so it fits their style more. Roffa.nu is a local platform that promotes cultural events in Rotterdam that are a little underground and have streetstyle vibes.

Rubicund's Bookshop is a safe space to discuss politics and current issues to share knowledge via books and coffee. Here some of my smallest zines are for sale and you'll find a wide variety of independed books and other zines. Most of the books here have a political undertone about various subjects. Anyone with an open mind and interest in books, coffee and an open conversation is welcome here.

The organization of this zine and art event contacted me to sell some of my zines during this festival. Here you can buy some of my new(er) zines and those made by other artists. There will be also a Pride exhibition during the event and other fun things to do/see.

Group exhibition I was part of during the South Explorer in Rotterdam, this initiative is a yearly artroute throughout the city of Rotterdam South. I exhibited one piece out of my photo archive which I'm currently working on to document. The photo that was on display is part of an old photoserie called 'Shipslife', which is about my life and work as a photographer on cruiseships from the Holland America Line while traveling around the world/seas.

Independed publisher and artist Laur Pontak from Brussels and I met at an fanzine event in Paris. We were having a conversation about sharing the things you make and she came up with 'Shyness is useless', which I thought was worthy to make a sticker out of to spread the message. Together with WEIRD publish house from France and the Vetomat crew from Berlin I organize our next edition of the Tiny Zine Fest '24 in Rotterdam at Gallery Niffo. We take care of the open call, promotional material (graphic design and text) and promotion as a whole. We've made a selection out of all applicants, keep in touch with everyone, prepare all activities, host the event, exhibit our zines host the community table, and build up this event.

Honoured to have my selfpublished zine 'How to be (more) eco-friendly as an illustrator' on display/for sale at this crazy beautiful book and magazine store! Note that there's only 2 available right now but don't you worry, i'll add more at the beginning of may.

Illustrator 'Dirty Like The Weeds' from the States and I shared a table at the RAW Gelande market on a sunny Sunday to sell our illustration prints and the outcome of our little experiment (read: handmade patches). RAW gelande is located near to what's left of the Berlin Wall and is one of Berlin's many creative hubs where underground art, music and initiaves come together via exhibitions, beergartens, clubs, cultural events and skating.

I'll promise, you won't leave there with empthy hands, since all the indie books they sell are just pretty awesome!

The French artistduo of 'Youpron' from Paris celebrated their art anniversary this year together with other artists and friends. This via a fanzine event and afterparty at the DOC in Paris. I've met Youpron at an exhibition in Berlin and we instantly clicked on art, political and personal level. Youpron invited me to come on over to exhibit/sell my works and celebrate their anniversary with them.

Zine event in solidarity with the Argentinian people who since December 2023 are dealing with the new reality due to assumption of Javier Milei and his far-right liberal party with totalitarian measures and anty-human rights law implentations. Here 30% of the sales of my zines/prints and works of other artists has been donated to La Mocha Celis (NGO), an organization who takes action in aim to preserve the rights of the queer community in Argentina.

Renate Comics is a independed bookstore and gallery in Berlin. They contacted me to get some of my artprints and zines for in their shop. Visit this awsome store to purchase some Burning Desk stuff and/or to add some (indie)books to your comic and zine collection. Some things are running out of stock, I'll restock them in June!

For this group exhibition during the Rotterdam Artweek I painted a new version of my illustration: There is no planet B (50x40). Stichting werklicht also had a second location with another part of our group exhibition which was in the old Unilever building.

Together with illustration artist 'Dirty like the weeds' I did a small experimental collaboration. We both like to draw strange creatures and settings which we thought would be a great fit to combine. We've made some cute handmade patches as a first experiment and were pretty obsessed how they've turned out. In the future we are planning to do some more collabs where we will experiment with new materials!

In cooperation with Weird House publisher from France (based in Berlin) I organized the Tiny zine fest at Vetomat Berlin. Vetomat is a screenprint workplace and bar where this event took place. We selected 20+ artists out of all applicants and promoted and hosted this event ourselves. The only rule was that the participating artists would display very tiny zines. During this event the visitors had the oppertunity to make small zines them selves, screenprint and buy zines/art.

During the Tiny Zine Fest at Vetomat we organized a group exhibition on the gallery wall. I exhibited some of my illustrationworks and had my own tiny zines for sale next to 20+ other International artists. We hired the artist Smurk from Berlin to design some funky tiny tables out of trash materials from the streets for the artists to display their works on during this exhibition. In 2024 we are planning to organize more Tiny Zine Fests!

I was interviewed by a student (Emily E.) of the Boston University for a graduation research about the life and process of an artist & selfpublisher.

I was selected to join the Boston Artbook fair again and shared my table with the awesome Carrotcake + her sidekick Matt (who I met at the previous Boston Artbook fair in 2022) here we sold our illustrations and zines.

During the Boston Artbook Fair (BCA) 2023, I was interviewed by the Boston Globe for an article about BCA and the selfpublish community.

Burning Desk has been selected to join MISS READ in Berlin 2023! I sold a lot of new works, zines, artprints, stickers and some Berlin inspired stuff I made over the years.

My zine 'How to be (more) eco-friendly as an illustrator' was selected by Cross Comix Rotterdam for multiple pop-ups that they attend/organize. Cross Comix is a yearly International visual storytelling festival in Rotterdam. The festival took place from 22 september untill the 23th at the Armenius church where they sold my zines on my behalf.

Visitors of All Caps (previous Pow Wow) can enjoy streetart, music, workshops and exhibitions during the duration of this festival. Cross Comix had a zinekiosk at the All Caps festival where they sold my publication (how to be more eco-friendly as an illustrator) and other selected zines made by local as well of International artists and illustrators.

Printed Matter is a platform for illustrators, graphic designers and (self)publishers worldwide, dedicated to the dissemination, understanding and appreciation of artists’ books. My illustration 'My colour doesn't define me' is on their website free to download for organizations who protest against racism and for the Black Lives Matter movement (BLM) and who seek images for on their promotional material like posters and flyers.

Currently working on my publication about my experiences with the (daily) racism and unconscious bias I endure. This to show others who are open for this subject on which levels racism occures and to hopefully give other people of colour some reconition and comfort. I was quite fed up with all the rightwing parties winning all around the world and the fact racism and the effects of it being misunderstood, overlooked and even justified by many. This book will be published in September '24.

Group exhibition with FLOAT and Joen both artists with their focus on envoirmental friendly art. Here I exhibitted the results of my research and manuscript 'How to be (more) eco friendly as an illustrator'. During this exhibition I dispayed my original manuscrips pages that I made on old paper and boxes and some of the experiments I did during this project.

Sold my Berlin A4 prints via 'We are Zanna' to support their initiave with a donation of 40% from the sales.

Burning Desk is part of FUGU, this is a creative network created with the aim of connecting early-career/student filmmakers with artists and graphic designers to create film posters and marketing materials for independent projects.

I was invited to take part at a group exhibition with my paintings and clay sculptures during the exhibition 'POP'. I exhibited 5 paintings and 3 sculptures I made from clay inspired on some of my illustrations.

A zine event in Rotterdam I was part of, here I sold my illustrations and zines and drank beers ofcourse.

Another artbookfair I was part of. During this day I exhibited and sold my illustrations works and zines.

I made a painting for this exhibition where 30% of the sellings were donated to an organization who helps refugees in need.

Five of my paintings were displayed during this exhibition organized by Werklicht foundation during the Rotterdam artweek 2023.

I was selected to take part at the Boston Artbook Fair in the Boston for the weekend. I exhibited and sold my illustration works and zines and met a great bunch of people.

At the end of the 8 week project 'Kunst blijft slapen' (see explenation of project below) my painting was exhibitted at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, together with 15 other artworks by artists who also participated in this project.

From july 2022 untill march 2023 I researched everything around the subject; how young adults deal with loss and grief. During this research I intervieved 12 people from the targetgroup and spoke to many organizations who are working with young adults in grief. In the second part of this project (which will start in the beginning of 2024) I will make something with all the information from the first part of this project to hopefully create more awareness and openess around this subject.

10 month research on 'How to be (more) eco friendly as an illustrator'. We as illustrators use a lot of materials that are not that envoirmental friendly (made) and/or don't have a fair origin. During this experiment I researched eco friendly alternatives we can make and use as an illustrator. All the things I tried and came up with I visualized in a limited edition manuscript named 'How to be (more) eco friendly as an illustrator' to share with other creatives.
