Carolina Koster
Abstract - tekenen - artistiek onderzoek - natuur
The work of Carolina Koster is an ongoing search to depict the elusive poetry she finds, in the physical world that surrounds us. She is fascinated by the appearance of materials, they urge her to interact.
Her starting point are (found) basic materials, such as charcoal, paper, graphite, ink, wood, stones and cardboard. She works in an intuitive way: she packs, applies layers of charcoal, traces, photographs, folds in and out, searches for words, cuts and tears, until a found method fits. The poetic power of the physical world becomes palpable from the interaction with the material.
Her oeuvre is as stilled as it is present. As subtle as it is monumental. It echoes the moments of stillness in which she connects to the world around her.
Her work appeals to a fundamental connection with our physical world. It invites us to reflect on our own physical being, to connect with ourselves and to experience something of the sublime of the tangible world.
