Hello! My name is Cian Redmond, I'm a 26 year old from Dublin that specialises in visual art, primarily filmmaking and photography. With a conceptually driven approach to both photo and video work I create witty films that often use practical visual effects to tell unconventional stories.

During my studies I picked up traditional black-and-white photography. Using analog mediums I practice street photography. My eye is drawn to various inanimate objects and humorous instances. My work is always hands-on with a run and gun approach.

**Constitution Hill** - Putting a contemporary take on an early black-and-white flick, I wanted to show how phones are altering the classic 'boy meets girl' story in a satirical, slapsticky style.

**Eau de Toilet** - ‘Eau de Toilet’ is a photo series of ripoff perfumes found in discount shops and markets. The media really sensationalises these little bottles of smelly water making them look so desirable and important with massive amounts of money going into shooting them. The series is an ongoing challenge to make these rip-off bottles look just as attractive as the ones we see on billboards and bus shelters by making mini, makeshift sets in piles of rubbish I've come across in the city. I have a few pasted around Rotterdam amongst the real deals. See if you can spot them ;)

**Barriers** - A series of photographs of the red-and-white tape that divide us from ‘hazardous areas’ or ‘danger zones’. These man-made, make-shift efforts to create barriers are often questionably constructed, contradicting their purpose to protect us. They can be found wrapped around tree trunks, tied sloppily to vehicles and strapped carelessly to poles or anything close-by. This pop-up exhibition featured a selection of photos from a collection of 150 that were all taken on an iPhone. The red/white lines were all puzzled together digitally on a giant canvas and printed physically using Riso.

In samenwerking met: Helmut Smits

I worked with artist Helmut Smits as an intern. Here I conceptualised ideas, shot
and edited short video and photo commercials for Oatly, Rimowa and De
Correspondent. A lot of the work we produced was focussed on product
photography in street settings. I developed problem-solving and organisation
skills and sharpened my camera work and editing.
