Karin Arink

beeldhouwen - conceptueel - cross-over - fotografie

Karin Arink makes (wearable) objects and often re-photographs these to make metamorphosing 'states of self' visible. Her works embody these 'states of self': interactions between corporeality and ideas on how you should manifest yourself – through body postures, garments, language. Through transforming (physical) shapes, her works reconnect narrative interpretations of who "I" could be, to an affect-rich experience of existence. This way, her position (as a white woman, as partner, mother, artist, ..) is visually reflected upon.

VerteerWezens 2017-2019 - Installation of various VerteerWezens and floor elements, for BIG ART 2019 in Zaanstad VerteerWezens is a ongoing series of spatial objects in papier-mâché, started in 2017. The title can be roughly translated as 'digested-beings'. In each work, a rejected object or utensil is combined with aluminium modelling mesh, cardboard and/or other materials. This is covered with a layer of papier maché made from shredded waste paper from ao magazines - often left-overs from Renée Kool's recent works. In this way used materials are "digested" by turning them into creatures/beings. For more info: https://dekko.nl/VerteerWezens/
