I’m drawn to the quiet but powerful ways nature tells its stories: the growth rings of trees recording time, the camouflage patterns of insects hiding in plain sight, the way geological layers hold histories far older than our own. These forms speak of adaptation, resistance, and transformation, not only as natural events but as metaphors for identity, self-creation, and change.
In my practice, I’m less interested in representing nature and more interested in working alongside it; finding moments where its patterns can challenge or disrupt the narratives we have told ourselves about what is ours and what is not. My approach is a mix of poetic reflection and critical exploration, focusing on how human activity reshapes ecological and cultural landscapes. Through the use of materials and narratives that expose the tensions and interdependencies between natural processes and man-made systems, I create objects that feel both familiar and alien, reflecting the resilience of life that exists beyond human control.

In Life Potential 2 onderzoeken kunstenaars de relatie tussen mens en omgeving, en de rol van artificiële landschappen, romantisch verlangen en queer identiteit daarin. De tentoonstelling heeft een sterk inhoudelijk karakter en biedt een reflectie op thema’s als queer verzet, intimiteit en het spanningsveld tussen natuur en cultuur.

Artist Talk overnemen, aanklampen, transformeren
Ik gaf een artist talk aan jaar 4 over mijn werk en residentie in Portugal, waar ik ‘biofouling’ onderzocht: organismen die zich hechten aan scheepsrompen en andere maritieme infrastructuren, en zo onbedoeld meereizen met wereldwijde handelsroutes. De talk bood ruimte voor een gesprek over hoe je als kunstenaar onderzoek kunt verweven met intuïtie, en hoe fysieke processen (zoals aangroei, hechting, verval) kunnen functioneren als politieke of persoonlijke beeldtaal.
Rusted Mouths, Hollow Veins
Vanuit mijn project The Thief of Tides (2024) wil ik onderzoeken of ik een nieuw werk kan ontwikkelen in dialoog met Daily Practice, in de vorm van residentie met als afsluiting een expositie. De thema’s die ik eerder aanraakte – zoals verval, transformatie en maritieme infrastructuur – diep ik verder uit in een nieuwe vorm en context.
