A creamy substance lactated from the areola into the slimy mouth of an infant. While the greedy petite was drinking, their mouth scraped their mother’s nipple. The little human screamed for more nutrition. This greedy behavior of the baby caused a dangerous amount of milk spurting out of the breast, demolishing the toothless mouth of the child.
When the baby was born, the mother felt afraid of their responsibility as a caretaker. After the baby died, the mother felt ashamed of killing their own blood. The mother punished themselves, by dehydrating their own body until they died. After they finished their last breath, they became water themselves.
Urschleim – Collaboratie met Marieke Peeters: Maaskoe Gallerie Rotterdam 2021 - The viscous and semi-solid Urschleim generates an unstable ground in a world that is always in motion, fluctuating, waiting to become something else. In the spirit of group show ALL INN in Het Hem, this collaboration and group exhibition in Galerie Maaskoe brings together 6 young artists who found and stuck to one another there. They will visually and conceptually play with Urschleim as potential for being and becoming, for things to grow, fall apart and decay. Like a slimy trail, the works ooze together in a dynamic show that morphs gradually into 4 varying exhibitions.
What lurks in the holes and cracks of a room, trapped and smoothed out of time? Concealed under contemporary beauty, the room functions as a monumental organism with its own agency that makes time disappear. In a space where life and decay are not fixed concepts, ambiguity arises.

Cats in Church 2021 - The relationship between the Cat and the Catholic Church is discussed through a meeting between two experts by experience, Gatto from the Santo Stefano (Bologna) and the Kat in the Sint Stevenskerk. The cats speak of a relationship that is always in flux. Contemporary Catholic cat lovers are mirrored to a past that wasn’t as cute as the pet itself.

The Debris of the Hoisting Curio 2022 - Group-Exhibition, titled: Oozing the Wound at Ijzerblok Studio (Coolhaven, Rotterdam)
In silence you can visit the remains of value makers from the past. The Hoisting is a synonym for elevating. Curio refers the object of a pedestal. This memento serves as footing which elevates artefacts. The form of the basement is subordinate to the functionality of an object. For example, when the pedestal is used to support a monumental statue, it raises the individual on a stage. The function is to alter the political person and transform she/he/them into an object with monumental status. This spectacle format strips the individual of the temporal existence and transcends them into a historical narrative. In the article “Een Sokkel, Maar Niet Langer een Voetstuk” from Iris van der Zee, a shift is demonstrated in this transcendental function of the pedestal. According to the writer Iris van der Zee, this purpose is transformed into the pedestal as an object of commemoration without celebration. The statues are toppled from their monumental base. The monumental value of the footing is changing, in metamorphosis. Where the pedestal first propagated ideas of elevation and timelessness, it now becomes something temporal.

But what the traveller forced in the enclosed borders of her own environment, does this initiate a search for the strange and unknown in places that feel like home?
