My name is Matilde, I’m very curious and I eat a lot. I miss traveling, I like humans, I love creatures, I’m fascinated by what feels new and different. I enjoy drawing, storytellers, magic, miniatures, games, and tomatoes. \r\n\r\nI am a social designer, artist and researcher, developing her practice by observing those ambiguous spaces that blur between realities and hide emotional friction. There, I experiment with visualization, manifestation and embodiment to investigate communication, aiming to reinforce empathetic capacity and deconstruct misunderstandings. Currently, I am diving into the mechanics of larp (live action role play) and layering them with object-making and participatory events – floating thanks to this methodology of ambiguity between fields such as psychology, ethnography and urban mapping, I explore narrational and experiential tools for co-creation.

Fables of water and stone
Fables of water and stone - Fables of water and stone plays with the combination of landscape mapping, experiential impressions and technical knowledge within the Shimane prefecture. Glimpses of willful nature intertwine with human well behaved but sometimes forgotten traces, these are recorded, molded and carved through a fictional layer becoming a threshold for discovery and wander. In collaboration with the roof tile manufacture Kamedani, the traditional Sekishu tiles become elements for playful activation and sneaky catalysts of co-narration and interaction with the community and the visitors. A site specific project developed in Yunotsu, Shimane prefecture (JP) as part of the residency program AKIYA AIR, powered by Mujun Planet and MONO Japan Foundation. The project has been realized in collaboration with the traditional roof tile manufacture Kamedani and thanks to the support of CBK Rotterdam and Mondriaan Fonds.
Unreliable Narrators – tricksting dreamscapes
Unreliable Narrators – tricksting dreamscapes - Rooted in the fascination of what lies in-between realities, the project crafts ceramic tiles as raw representations of dreams. Inspired by Gestalt psychology’s exploration of perception and pattern recognition, the title refers to the subjective nature of dreams and memories as well as because it expects an active engagement in the process of interpretation and storytelling. Viewers become co-creators in adding layers of meaning and complexity to the ever-changing narrative, which depends on the tiles arrangement and the eyes that look at it. The collection of 50 tiles has been developed within the residency programme at EKWC, Europea Ceramic Workcenter in Oisterwijk and supported by Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds and PPO.
Deamweaving the grotesque
Deamweaving the grotesque - Can the figure of the monster serve as a system to glimpse at the socially constructed reality we inhabit, challenging conventional boundaries, standards, and inviting exploration into alternative narratives through embracing complexity and hybridity? This participatory workshop invited participants to adopt the figure of the monster as a methodology for artistic, anthropological and environmental research. Starting from the Western notion of understanding the human as separate from the surroundings, we question the notion of the body as a fixed container instead of an interactive, porous and ever-changing one. Workshop developed with Gaia D’Arrigo as part of exhibition and public program 'Dreams of dreams of dreams' an exhibition hosted by Onomatopee.
Present by Nature – geographies from the gap
Present by Nature – geographies from the gap - Overview Geographies from the Gap is a non-verbal LARP (Live Action Role Play), that aims to give the players a physical, explorative experience. The players are introduced to the larp through a 1 hour workshop and the larp itself runs for approximately 1 hour. This larp wants zoom into the life of the microscopic world of insects and plants, exploring their ability to constantly re-adapt their ecosystem in contexts under the ever ending influence of humans. Concept Humans live in a world. Every other species does too. According to the perspective these worlds might be the same, perfectly aligned, or different, irrevocably dissociated. The intention is to record and collect the interdependence between the macro (zoom out) that observes the territory from a human perspective, and the micro (zoom in) that discovers the unfolding of the ecosystem/cosmology’s network, characteristic of the nature of the harbour areas.
Dripping tales of the undomesticated
Preseny by Nature – dripping tales of the undomesticated - Performance and installation realised in the spaces of Drop City during Fuoriasalone 22, Milan (IT). Starting from the notion of the third landscape, it is that we decide to follow the narrating voice of nature in those lands where it reclaims its presence. Present by Nature sets out to experience and comprehend the natural ecosystems surrounding us, learning adaptation from inadaptation. Storytelling becomes a tool for shaping and sharing the experience, whereas fiction sets the pace for collecting a repertory of traces of collaborative research-creation. The traces can be reactivated and each time is to initiate a new iteration. Here we follow the water as a guide and the infiltration as its map, to explore a space where the absence of human activity has created a refuge for the preservation of biological diversity. The intervention will unfold and emphatise the proliferation of the leakage, accompanying its flow around the tunnel and out of it, slowly discovering what this collusion of macro and micro scale can convey.
Present by Nature – exploring the cosmology of a leftover land
Present by Nature – exploring the cosmology of a leftover land - Third Landscape as a biological necessity, conditioning the future of living things, modifies the interpretation of territory and enhances areas usually looked upon as negligible. It is up to the political body to organize ground division in such a manner as to assume responsibility for these undetermined areas, tantamount to concern for the future. –Gilles Clément Starting from the notion of the third landscape by Gilles Clément, we dive into the exploration of Plot 003, one island of the archipelago of leftover land of Rotterdam, and we meet its inhabitants. Throughout the three-day experience, insects and plants have been the leading voice of the participatory act on the intervention area. Plot 003 has been experienced as an open construction site where we operated with an archaeological approach. We have been carried by the textures and plant density, the number of insects and their way to move, the structure of the soil and the movement of light and shade. Observation and proximity to the space allowed us to map how it looks today and stimulate curiosity, outlined through small acts to narrate our experience. Control of a Story - Master Graduation Project, MA Social Design, Design Academy Eindhoven – Control of a Story comes from the intention to explore the communication dynamics of a family system that has to live with mental diversity, in particular bipolar disorder. Fictional storytelling and play become tools to reinforce empathic capacity and challenge our socially encoded perception of reality. The narrative template acquires physicality and is personalized according to one's own experience. The objects create an ambiguous transitional space, developing a third position, situated in the middle and mediating ways of being.
A Story of Control - Master Thesis, MA Social Design, Design Academy Eindhoven – By getting to the core of the communicative process, the research explores different ways to trick and educate the lenses filtering our way of looking at others and ourselves. Using storytelling and playfulness as tools to reinforce empathic capacity and challenge our socially encoded perception of reality. Sometimes theory is not enough to justify the dynamic of a relationship, and our instinct is often biased by prejudiced filters that interfere with our perception of others and create hierarchies. There is no possible or impossible, but a set of different perspectives, and we must learn how to shift from one to another with more flexibility.

Moving in Stasis is an exhibition of its own making. Constructed as an evolving set-piece and culminating in a digital public program, participants will occupy a hybrid structure over five weeks, formed in three acts: Installation, Production, and Public Programme. Entirely curated, designed, and developed by the graduates themselves, the exhibition disentangles and re-stages performance, film screenings, objects, writings, radio broadcasts, and more.
