I am an architect specialized in exhibition design who grew up in the world of theater.
Yet, I have always wanted to artistically explore the world, the interactions and dynamics between people.
I have a fascination for the dialectics between the permanent and the temporary. I enjoy questioning what I am doing, what and how others are doing and thinking; this fuels my artistic practice. In my projects, and sometimes just scraps of ideas, I explore nuances and textures through sound, text and spatial interventions.

Le barbare délicat - 'Le barbare délicat' is an installation(video&sound) I created for the 'Karel Appel Inspiratie' group exhibition at galerieWind showcasing 50 local artists. Although being known as an abstract-expressionist painter, Karel Appel (1921-2006) composed the album 'Musique Barbare' (1963) for a documentary made on himself by cinematographer Jan Vrijman. I manipulated both the video and its soundtrack in order to expose the hidden delicacy contrasting the 'barbaric' painting technique of Appel.
As soon as we become motionless, we are elsewhere - outdoor installation, TOT The Orange Tree Project - residency | 2020, Rotterdam ???? ???????? ???? ???? ???????????? ????????????????????, ???? ?????? ?????????????????? is an outdoor spatial installation that alludes to notions of isolation, solitude, togetherness, contemplation, imagination, mental space and silence. Through different degrees of isolation - physical, visual, acoustic, or mental - different reports are created between the individual and the existing garden. The balance between individuality and collectivity and how one relates to either or both is a topic incorporated in the set-up of the project. Beyond an individual artwork, the installation includes contributions from guest musicians & sound artists that activate a higher level of togetherness, making it a collective work as well. From the end of September until mid December 2020, 4 ?????????? & ?????????? ???????????????????????? were supposed to take place inside the installation. Because of Covid, only one performance took place. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoOc6m0Urow). In time, nature will take over the intervention, in a similar way to when your mind wanders and the space around you shrinks. It is an ode to the 'elsewhere'; it is an act of empowering the intangible over the tangible. In a world where the notion of togetherness is being challenged, one can choose to look at it as an archipelago of solitudes. https://www.facebook.com/events/693905521218830/?active_tab=about
The Table - The table is a sound piece made in collaboration with Sebastien Seynaeve for the Bending Melting Aching one-day exhibition that took place in the Horta Museum during the Brussels Museum Nocturnes in October 2017. For this piece, I wrote and recorded a palindrome text, as a direct response to Francis Ponge’s book "La Table". https://www.100ideas.space/mik-the-table
Exercise on intimacy - Exercise on intimacy is a sound installation proposal from 2017 that stems from my personal fascination about the concept of intimacy and its relation to our physical and mental space. https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/230495416?embedded=true&source=vimeo_logo&owner=66893215
Searching for something - Searching for a sound, for an image, for a word, for a feeling, for a state of mind. (sound, 2020)

As soon as we become motionless, we are elsewhere

Locatie: Ateliergebouw Oranjeboom

"As soon as we become motionless, we are elsewhere" is a spatial intervention in the garden of the Atelier building Oranjeboom that reflects on notions of isolation, solitude, togetherness, daydreaming, imagination, mental space and ultimately, silence. The installation consists of an ordered landscape of 12 instances of “sitting down”, working as a frame for introspection and contemplation. I curated 4 music & sound events to take part inside the installation.
