Nikki Vroom

Nikki Vroom (1999) is a Dutch artist based in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. They mainly focus on a mixture of sculptures and text. Most of the time humor is used in Nikki’s work, in the hope to make the audience laugh when they first see the work. The sculptures have human-like features and are large and robust. Some of these sculptures are spatial and need a room for themselves. As Nikki lives in the present, so do the creatures. The creatures either live in their reality or Nikki’s, sometimes they live simultaneously and/or together. Nikki wants to explore fiction or fact-based stories that relate to the creatures and back to Nikki's self. Playing with aspects that live parallel to each other, now morphing into one line and devising a sentient being, a creature. That can be if fiction is one with reality, the past simultaneously being the present, then and there to the here and now.
