At the core of my work is the lived experience of being human: the bodily, emotional, and spiritual terrain through which life is encountered. Part of this is the force of change, as a constant condition of life. I tend to observe how things emerge, unfold, and transform, and how --in return-- they change us. I often apply this to myself, observing how practices change the practitioner; how knowledge is revealed through practice; how meaning evolves, and how metamorphosis takes place.
I work with drawing, painting, spatial installation, and research. I use my sensitivity as a lens to dig deeper, to try to reveal and convey things which words cannot fully express, which aren't yet fully understood. I've always felt drawn to life's enigmas, magic and esoteric knowledges. My work is an attempt to make visible the invisible, often starting from my own embodied experience. Most recently, I've learned how to ground my work in the lived experiences of others, through intimate interviews and a close thematic analysis, exploring topics such as artistic integrity and meaningful work.
For me, the practice of creativity is a spiritual one; it alllows me to connect with the world inside myself, and the world outside myself. Part of my practice is using intuition, attention and transformation as guiding forces. This is why my work is often cyclical, as I return to earlier works with new eyes. I enjoy this cyclical aspect of my work; my work grows along with me. In essence, my work carries a life-story of self-belief, the right to create, and the resilience to dream, to believe, and to become.
