Riccardo Santalucia patterns light, CGI, sound, storytelling, interactive technologies and code, threading multilinear narratives around the philosophy of computational images, the politics of care, and rule-breaking (and making) methodologies. As part of his artistic inquiry, he dialogues with textile, software, and sound craft-based communities, researching collective intelligence and forms of cooperation across real and online spaces.
His theoretical research is incorporated in video works and installations, where irony, visual poetry, music, and synesthesia accompany characters in search of alternative perspectives to colonial world-views. Combining modes of address that probe human emotion and perception with a critical approach to the contemporary media landscape, he explores the interplay between knowledge production and sensory experience.
Santalucia visual works are strongly related with sound arts and electroacoustic music, in relation to his practice as composer and live performer under the moniker Ardore, as well as that of organiser of performance art and live music events.
The Cozy Pillow
During this workshop I guided participants in the crafting of pillows using the hand crochet technique (no hooks involved). The workshop ended with a session of music listening, carried out by seating on the pillows just made. Part of the pillows were donated to the hosting venue, Varia, for it to have a hand-made set of floor seatings that can be used during future music events. That same night, I performed music with live visuals inspired by the action of weaving together yarns.
