Rosalie Wammes

experimenteel - geluid - installatie - omgeving - performance

In tactile and multi-sensorial sculptures and installations Rosalie proposes a futuristic feminine system. With a holistic approach she uses her works as a counter-power to capitalism and hierarchy. A soft counter-power, radical in its vulnerability. Using materials like fabric, metal, wax, light and pigments she approaches the cultural space as a sanctuary, where everyone and everything, organic or artificial, living or dead is honoured equally. A place where the organic synthesizes with the artificial and the decayed and apocalyptic with the futuristic and the hopeful.

Her practice-led research is an examination of feminism, science fiction and world-building. With a background in performance and scenography her work has shifted to installation and sculpture wherein the viewer becomes the performer as they experience the work in the space.

Rosalie is currently based in Rotterdam & London. She has a BA in Performance (Toneelacademie Maastricht) and is currently studying MA Fine Art at the Chelsea College of Arts in London.
