Sandra’s work mostly includes oil paintings and drawings. Her work relates to identity; who are you, where are you from, where are you going? Sandra’s paintings depict how people manifest themselves, or what place people occupy in time. Currently she takes inspiration from old family photos or personal photos and films she finds abroad and on the internet. In her work she uses the discrepancy between real life and the youthful promise, sweet memories and posed perfection that are depicted in private photos. The uniqueness of a person versus the greatness of reality, in which a person can experience love, guilt, bad luck, happiness or can be crushed by much larger events in life, that’s what Sandra’s paintings are about.
