Thijs van Heerde is a Dutch-Taiwanese artist, currently living and working in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Inspired by the cultural intersections of his upbringing and the emotional weight of everyday objects and encounters, his work tries to broaden the understanding of their freedoms and constraints in the context of human connection and cultural exchange. Through various media, mainly painting and drawing, he criss-crosses the boundaries between depiction and fabrication, while creating narratives rooted in lived experience, ancestral recollection, cultural hybridity and discovery.

In addition to his solo practice, Thijs is also a member of Snackbar Esthetica, a creative collective formed by four close friends.
Shifting organically between collaboration and individual creation, they work to create expositions, objects, and participate in design fairs.
Since its founding in 2024, the Snackbar has become a vehicle for unexpected experimental crossovers between its members and external emerging designers, serving as an open platform for collaboration and exchange.
