schilderen - tekenen

I make paintings and/or drawings inspired by moments and places that have left an impression on me. I like to think that observing the world with a pencil or a brush in hand offers the possibility to have a fresh perspective on things – a slower, more deliberate way of seeing; a form of resistance that contrasts with our fast-paced society. In the space of painting I look for ways to bear witness to the complexities of human experience and the passage of time. Ranging from intimate interiors to expansive landscapes, my works carry a sense of temporal ambiguity and narrative potential, emerging from the interplay of adding and removing of substances, where painting becomes both a process of erasure and an integration of imposed limitations.
