My pictures are close encounters with strangers. I do not want to hide behind the camera, instead I want to have a moment to look in each other eyes. I am looking for special people, nice backgrounds and reveal their state of mind. I show my interest in people and capture their true selves. I try to understand why people behave the way they do. Besides taking pictures I really like to talk with all the people I meet.
I started to document the youth culture in 2003. I like young people’s longing for freedom and the courageuos surge for identity, which is part of growing up. In a way; this is what I like in life in general.
The street is my starting point where I look for all sorts of people. I photograph on the spot or ask their mobile number, visite them at home and get an impression of their everyday life.
Photography has its limitations in storytelling and I get to know great stories; that's why I started making short film documentaries.
