Yosra Abbady is a Rotterdam based artist. In her practice, she explores ways of collective storytelling through visual art. Her paintings
range from life-sized portraits to obscure miniatures and often investigate portraiture
as a community based activity. Bridging the gap between the classical and the
Camp, their approach is one of humor and subtlety, making sure to always
emphasize the essence and agency of the subject along the way.

Eettafelscene op het eiland — **Dinner scene on the island (after the cat meme)** - Scene in which Liraz and I stumble upon one of my alter-egos after he has taken food from the alter of the maenads. I am exploring subtle ways of playing with scale here.

A proper goodbye — **A proper farewell** - A double portrait of Emir Sivac as they prepare to give themself a proper goodbye on the island. On the island he celebrates the earlier itteration of himself that got him to where is has gotten so far with a funerary ritual in which they both get to participate.

**Little wing** - The is a small painting of 20x40cm, showing the severed wing of a bird. I was thinking a lot about the weight of this, and contradictory shapes

**Between the teeth of a smiling mouth** - This double self-portrait is one of the first in a series taking place on the island where I interact with a different version of myself. In this imaginary space where I, as well as others, explore the wilds of the psyche and come together to tell an ongoing story. It is a deeply collaborative process in which every additon informs the others. Often featuring other Rotterdam based artists.It is a space of radical acceptance and experimentation where the essence of the person posing takes center stage.
