Mural Coolsingel
Mural Coolsingel - I was the final artist to contribute to the art project featured on the EDGE construction hoarding along the Coolsingel in Rotterdam. My mural explores the fleeting moments of encounter and connection that take place in Rotterdam’s city center. Each person moves through the city with their own story, their own quest. Yet, for a brief moment, these individual paths intersect. The person on the left is taking a selfie, in which the woman, who is on a date, will likely appear in the background. The man is in love with her, while at the same terrace, someone else is enjoying a variety of food. From another perspective, the watermelon could also be seen as a symbol of resistance. This idea of overlap is reflected visually through the overlapping elements in the mural’s composition. 11 x 2 meter
Mirror Mural
Mirror Mural - This artwork in the lobby of the NYX Hotel in Amsterdam was a personal dream project. It’s an evolution of the mirror pieces I’ve created before, but this time transformed into a large-scale mural and two pillars. The concept was inspired by stained glass, but without the windows. The materials consist of acrylic glass with various textures, glass-look, metallic, and stone-look, combined with real mirror. What I love most about working with mirrors is how the viewer naturally becomes part of the artwork, making this piece deeply tied to self-love and -reflection. The two figures represent the masculine and feminine energies within us; two sides you both need to embrace to become whole. The heart formed in the center isn’t about romantic love, it symbolizes love for oneself.
Mural Pinkpop
Mural Pinkpop - This mural for the Rabo Clubhuis at Pinkpop was partly improvised and co-created with the festival visitors. I expanded the artwork using inspiration from visitors’ answers to the question: ‘What would you do if you were financially independent?’. They could make a cutout of their wishes, pin them on the board, and I incorporated the shapes (with some artistic freedom ).
Pigeons' Mating Dance
Pigeons' Mating Dance - After spending all summer watching a pair of pigeons in love in the tree outside my window, I created this mural depicting their mating dance. Doves are universal symbols of peace, and I wanted to bring a sense of light into these dark times, and into this dark tunnel. Consider it a bit of peace propaganda. Mariniershof, Rotterdam 9x4meter
Somewhere between summer an WOIII
Somewhere between summer an WOIII - What it feels like to be making plans for summer, while the world is on fire. What do you see; a tropical summer setting or a symbol of resistance? This artwork is my contribution to the group show The M-Collection by Murals Inc. Nature paper on canvas 70 x 100cm
Mural Crooswijk
Mural Crooswijk - With this mural, I have brought a new resident of Rotterdam/Crooswijk into existence. I wanted to give her a strong presence by portraying her on a large scale, confidently owning her femininity. She takes up her space in the streetscape by doing the ordinary: walking the dog while carrying shopping bags. She has a distinctive appearance, but no clearly defined age, race, or ethnicity. Mural Blind Walls Gallery
Mural Alkmaar
Mural Alkmaar - When I was first asked to take on this project, I had my doubts. Could I really turn this ugly sound barrier into something beautiful? And more importantly, did I even want to? But almost immediately, an idea came to mind: instead of fighting against the ridges in the metal panels, why not work with them? I imagined blocks of different colors, with linework that would flow from one section to the next. The people in the neighborhood asked for a more nature-inspired color palette, something softer and more organic than what I usually use. So I based my concept on an abstract interpretation of a sunset and sunrise. That way, I could stay close to nature, but still play with greens and some more vibrant colors. Not gonna lie, the first two days of painting, I kept thinking: What did I get myself into? The surface was a nightmare, and I thought it would take forever. But once I started adding the colors, it all came together. The shapes, lines, and colors worked really well with the ridges of the wall, and it all just started to make sense.
