Hannah Kansy (she/her) is an illustrator, printmaker, and artistic researcher specialising in storytelling through visual experiences. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses the conception and production of a range of media, including publications, printed editions, and spatial installations.

At the core of her work lies a close observation of places, situations, and environments, explored through graphics, illustration, and printmaking. She frequently works with risography and screen printing, translating her observations into tactile printed matter. Her illustrations engage with natural environments, abstracting them into a visual language that combines geometric structures with organic forms.

Alongside her illustration practice, she explores experimental printmaking from an environmental perspective, creating inks from soil and using them in historically informed and site-specific research projects.

Hannah collaborates with a variety of clients within the cultural sector and regularly facilitates printmaking workshops, sharing her expertise in analogue processes and material experimentation. Through both her collaborative and educational work, she places craft-based practices in dialogue with contemporary visual communication.

The exhibition “Traces of Democracy” at the Neue Galerie Landshut, developed in collaboration with German artist Monika Huber, explores environmental protest movements across southern Germany. The works are based on images sourced from news reports, which were overpainted and then screenprinted using soil-based inks. The soils used in the printing process were collected from locations across Germany that are significant to the country’s democratic history and processes.
