IN YOUR FACE 2.0
IN YOUR FACE 2.0 is a group exhibition focusing on female visual artists in Rotterdam, aiming to draw attention to the position and visibility of women within the arts field.
Several research reports on the position of female artists in the Netherlands show that the visual presence of women in art still lags far behind their male colleagues.
Photo Studio Schmidt & Li
Stephan Schmidt & Ka Yee Li met at the office and since then their lives were intertwined: at work, in art, and finally in love.
In 2011 they started to challenge each other to make an artistic commitment through interactive photo-performances.
Performing as "Photo Studio Schmidt & Li", we engage in interactive photo-performances, disguised as portrait photo sessions, together with unsuspecting visitors. These participants have to cope with our unanticipated appearance in every portrait.
My party
Collaboration Akureyri Museum during the A! performance festival.
Ka Yee Li suddenly appeared and invited passengers to celebrate her “birthday” with her. Passengers were invited to lighten the candles and sing for her.
Two days long, she blew out candles, every day, until she was totally exhausted. During these performances, Ka Yee catches up her birthday parties, that she had missed out during her childhood, attempting to relive these important moments from the past.
