Lili Ullrich's practice explores vulnerability and the Knowing Body, a term focusing on the connection between the physical and psychological experience. Her aim is to provide imagery and actions for possible futures and question existing structures, while also allowing for playful exploration and interpretations of the mundane. Their latest work deals with archetypes and trauma, exploring identity in its layered and complex ways. She works in performance art, video, installation and sculpture. They graduated from WDKA in Fine Art and the University of Music and Performing Arts, Frankfurt, in Acting. She has been a recipient of the CBK Research & Development grant for her research mimesis and the poetic body, where she looks into the connection between the subconscious and the knowing body. She is an alumni of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (2014-19).

Worlds Between Words
The tales of the artists are rooted in migration, ancestry, and life after devastation. The labyrinth asks you to place yourself inside it, and by travelling between narratives, contemplate the vastness of the city landscape next to your own stories of belonging. Lifting these veils, we find languages emerge as pockets to these worlds quietly open.

‘kosmische Raupe’ (2021) investigates archetypes through visceral movement, exploring the mystic powers of the body. Through Ullrich’s training as actress, she is interested in breaking the hierarchy between body and mind, merging mime art with acting, contemporary poetry, sound and voice. What happens, when a smoking dragon meets a cosmic caterpillar on a night floating with glow worms?

In this lecture performance Lili Ullrich will share her research on the Knowing Body, institutional trauma and the Collective Unconscious. During her residency at CLOUD she worked on the performance Kosmische Raupe, in which she translated these topics into a collage of acting, physical theatre, contemporary poetry & sound. You can expect a magical journey into the subconscious mind and mystery of the body.

Lili Lu's el jardin de los espiritus (video, 2020) is een eerbetoon aan haar oma Lolito. In de verschijning van 'de witte geest' ontrafelt ze de effecten en gedragingen van witte priveleges en racisme. Lili Lu is een performance en multimediakunstenaar in Rotterdam. Lu's praktijk als performancekunstenaar is beïnvloed door haar training als acteur, waarbij ze kwetsbaarheid en de Knowing Body verkent door spirituele en fysieke manifestaties.
JUNCTION
JUNCTION is an artistic platform and bottom-up initiative that advocates for anti-racist work through bridging the grassroots, the institutions and the general public into a nuanced discourse. Centered in Rotterdam, this project was awakened in partnership with Ratri Notosudirdjo, a Rotterdam based multimedia and performance artist.

In support of the community initiative of Wielewaal neighbors to create a light festival, Nash Caldera and Lili Lu created a light sculpture in the greenhouse. Next to it they wrote a series of collective text in their native languages, exploring 'portals' as crossing points between different cultural resistances and expressions.

screen_ is a New York based platform using E-mail to share art. Interested in hearing family stories around the life of my grandmother Lolo (Gloria Tejada), 'el jardín de los espíritus' shows a compilation of cinematic performances around the figure of the white ghost in juxtaposition with these conversations.
