In my work, I combine collage and painting techniques on canvas. Over the past year, I have also started working sculpturally. The relationship between humans and nature is a recurring theme in all the work I create.
A common thread in my imagery is the idea that transience and loss are necessary for the emergence of new life, like a cycle. The fact that humans can hardly tolerate this decay, or not at all, is a source of inspiration for me. The collage materials I use for my paintings consist of waste materials such as wood, glass, metal, leather, plastic, and photographic material.
My paintings are an ode to the shapes, rhythms, and patterns that emerge from the unfathomable influences of nature. In my imagery, I draw inspiration from everything that is subject to these rhythms: ancient natural landscapes, flora, fauna, and humans. I depict humans as those who attempt to influence and control these natural forces.
In this, I aim to unite the ancient with the contemporary, the unconscious with the conscious. This process is a journey of discovery for me, which I want to make visible in the painting, both for myself and for others.
