Marleine van der Werf (1985, CH / NL) is filmmaker / beeldend kunstenaar werkend vanuit een documentair vertrekpunt en gevestigd in Rotterdam. Haar artistieke onderzoek concentreert zich op hoe we de belevingswereld van een ander kunnen ervaren. Met film en XR installaties creeert Van der Werf haptische ervaringen om het begrip van de ander en het zelf uit te dagen. Terugkerende thema's zijn bewustzijn, identiteit, embodiment en onze subjectieve waarneming van de werkelijkheid.
Ze werkt samen met gerenommeerde experts op het gebied van neurowetenschap, kunst en geesteswetenschappen. Haar prijswinnende films en installaties zijn vertoond op televisie & internationale kunst- en filmfestivals zoals IDFA (NL), Human Rights filmfestival Seoul (KR), FILE Festival in Sao Paolo (BR), Future of storytelling New York (VS) en Art Basel (CH). Ze won de NEXT Talent Award (20Playgrounds Digital Art Festival), ACT award (2019, STRP) en Sundance interdisciplinary grantee (2021) In 2023 deed ze de Emap artist in residency

All we are’ is a collaborative project between filmmaker Marleine van der Werf (NL/CH) who researches subjective character of experience & Scientist Julia Van Etten (USA) who studies how microorganisms like algae can survive in extreme conditions for a NASA-funded project.
