Exhibition together with Katarina Zdjelar and Clara J:Son Borg, based around the concept of the web, both as metaphor and methodology for exploring our friendship. The theme is inspired by Leslie Kern’s book, The Feminist City, in which she describes female friendships as a flexible yet supportive web: one that uplifts, catches, and creates space for transformation across private, public, and professional spheres.

Re-enactment presented as part of 25 Years of Filmwerkplaats, a one-day event of film screenings and performances done in collaboration with International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR).

The evening featured an online conversation with the festival founders, followed by the documentary Imaginary Youth (2024) by Ruxandra Gubernat. The documentary follows three Romanian teenagers during their final high school years, exploring identity, future choices, and mental health challenges during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The screening was followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker and an informal group discussion.

APPRECIATION is a group exhibition and open studios event celebrating the wonderful community that makes up the students, staff, alumni, and friends of the Piet Zwart Institute’s MFA program. Organised in response to the proposed closure of the longstanding Karel Doormanhof studios, APPRECIATION is an opportunity for those who have been directly involved with the program and the art community at large to come together in recognising the importance of strong & supported arts education.

Expanded cinema performance with 16mm film loops, 35mm slides, spoken word, vocal distortions, synthesizers and wind instruments. It explores how time manifests in the body and how we connect to the lives lived before us, captured through recorded media. The piece transgresses moments and memories, merging the immediacy of live experimental music with the layered potential of poetry, suggesting uncharted possibilities within each moment.

TANDRU is a site-specific art installation that explores the complex and unique dynamics of friendship. Inspired by the physical and emotional aspects of human relationships, Croitoru offers a reflection on how friendships can serve as models for connection and collaboration in a broader social context.

Filmwerkplaats opened up her lab for local member residencies within the framework of the SPECTRAL project. The outcome of each residency had to be the creation of a performative analog motion picture piece. All was allowed as long as the main research was analogue, i.e. photochemistry, image making and/or optical (light image) sound.

Romanian Creative Week is one of the most important creative events organised in Romania, bringing together most fields of creative industries, such as architecture, performing arts, film, visual arts, new media and design. As an invited Artist in Focus, I showed five of my films as an ongoing screening and gave an artist talk at the “George Enescu” National University of Arts.

Solo exhibition at WET. This was the first outcome of a long period of research into depictions of friendship between women. It was also a pilot project for WET acting as a creative producer, offering feedback and guidance throughout all the production stages of a moving image work.

Art History Aerobics is a performance conceived as an aerobics demonstration session whose content is inspired by the official chronology of European art history and its defining moments. The performer simultaneously embodies the role of an aerobics instructor and a storyteller. Using voice, body and imagination, she marks and illustrates different ways of understanding and representing the body in art.

Maike Hemmers' installation in the Dolf Henkes Prize 2023 exhibition is activated with a series of four workshops. Each workshop is dedicated to a color of the sculptures: yellow, pink, green or iron and focuses on relating color with movement.

Series of performance events under the name Fictions, my body. The invited artists and performers propose possible ways of working in the company of language, beyond illustration, by striking on the tension between representation and corporeality and on new alliances.

Water-based was an exhibition by Raluca Croitoru in Growing Space Wielewaal. It included two enlarged watercolors, digitally scanned and printed on fabric. Croitoru used brush strokes and inkjet droplets to think about representation, materiality, grief and letting go. The exhibition became a temporary resting space for floating bodies on their journey towards an unarticulated destination.

Exploring new trends in contemporary digital art, where the use of images, videos or texts (sometimes even text generators) from the online environment has cemented itself as a creative process, the SEEN project proposes an exhibition of digital art, a foray into contemporary types or performance art.

The starting point of the Future Perfect #4 project was the works and ideas of artists whose practice is linked by a critical-reflexive attitude, questioning reality and the way we perceive it, learn about it or interact with it. This new generation expresses its conceptual strategies in various ways – film, text, performance, painting, sound, textile work -, processing the details of reality by creating transformative poetics.

sound workshop and vinyl contribution commissioned by Research and Waves as part of 'I can't hear you' event series. Raluca Croitoru facilitated a workshop focused on the acoustic properties of our work environments. Through listening exercises, thinking about sounds and through making, the participants imagined and experimented with making small sonic adjustments for a more creative and supportive work soundscape.

Residency and exhibition at Skånes konstförening in Malmö. I produced a constellation of works in different mediums: ceramics, watercolors, video, sound and etchings. The work departed from embracing a state of not-knowing, caused by grief and the loss of a close person. In the making, this state can be understood as an active distancing from existing hierarchies of knowledge that prioritize rational approaches.

Two months' art residency at Art in General, New York, facilitated through CEC Artslink fellowship.

'A bonding together' is the meaning of the Latin word nexus that inspired curator Adela Demetja for the exhibition NEXUS 1 at Portland Institute for Contemporary Art. The show's experimental format links and merges performance, film, music, installation and poetry by four European and two US artists in a single work. The show came together after a two week' residency facilitated by Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.

Neutral Buoyancy was part of Open Access European Project and was displayed in three locations: the Botanical Garden in Cluj, Malaposta Theater in Lisbon and Le Granit Theater in Belfort. I worked with and through the properties of the aquatic environment, using sound to explore concepts of fluidity, buoyancy, and physical and speculative immersion. I produced a site-specific installation and a mixed media installation featuring a soundscape, prints on textile and a publication.

Residency, exhibition and performance in collaboration with Daniel Fogarty. Our research was focused on the ocean liner, a form of transportation that has delivered many tangible and untenable concepts; from fashion to war, weapons to dances, migration to tourism. The resulting exhibition experimented with the liner's complex history, trying to make it more than a historical backdrop. The show consisted of an installation of movable artworks that also acted as a set for the performance.

BODY SHIFT ERGO DRIFT is a performance that follows the logic of fragmentation, embracing a stage time that is neither linear nor narrative. The performance is the result of a mixed interest in social choreographies, the symptoms of neoliberal capitalism, shopping, disco music, industrial rhythm, effort and rest, care and self-care. Raluca Croitoru presented her Institute for Receipt Research and Experimentation, through a performance and a short film. Alternating between representation and abstraction, the experimental short film, entitled The Virtual Tour of the IIRRE (2016), follows a narrative at the border between fact and fiction. Through its structure, use of gestures and the presence of the voice, the film tackles concepts such as history-making, immateriality and interactivity in the digital world.

Raluca Croitoru introduces a site-specific performance that strikes up a dialogue with the history of Urseni Water Manufacturing in Timișoara, dating from the beginning of the last century. Using the shadow and the sonority as binding agents between the past and present, the body and space, the individual and collective, the artist searches to draw closer to the multiple histories that coexist and symbolically “contaminate” the bodies of buildings and bodies of the actors .

Suite for the Office was performed and filmed at the end of a two months' residency at the Art Encounters Foundation in Timisoara. The artwork is site-specific and the choreography unfolds in the transit and waiting spaces of an office building. The architecture of the office building plays an essential role in defining and structuring the choreographic elements.
