Sarah Kerbosch is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, textile practices such as weaving and tufting, costume and set design, installation, writing, and performance. What ties her practice together is a deep curiosity about how body, material, and emotion are intertwined: how they touch, shape, and sometimes confuse one another.
Originally trained in psychology, she has long been fascinated by how people feel, think, and experience the world. Rather than only studying these processes, she chose to move into fashion and textile design, later completing a master’s degree in Barcelona focused on material research and the interaction between body and matter. Her work blends research with hands-on experimentation, moving fluidly between analytical inquiry and intuitive making. Her projects often begin with a bodily sensation - a subtle tension, a fleeting emotion - that unfolds into a process of sensing, questioning, and material exploration. She is particularly drawn to in-between states: moments of transformation, uncertainty, and becoming. Through textile, space and performance, she explores how touch shapes memory and embodiment.
Her long-term research project In Touch (Barcelona, 2024) investigated the impact of touch on the body and resulted in a 373-page archive, exhibition, and performance. During her 2025 residency at Espai de Marge (Spain), she developed Where Touch Ends, exploring the physical act of letting go. Her work has been presented at Barcelona Design Week (2025), and in exhibitions and performances in the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Germany.
Across all media, Kerbosch seeks to make the invisible slightly more tangible - to give form to sensations and emotional states that live in the body but don't yet have a shape.
Barcelona Design Week
Contribution of 3 Materia C artworks for the exhition: Digital Healers: Beyond Matter, by artist and designer Raquel Quevedo. The installation offered an encounter with a new generation of digital shamans, hybrid avatars/sculptures created using 3D printing in resin, organic and inorganic matter such as oyster shells and minerals. The artworks became a ritual of resilience: a bridge between the material and the spiritual, where matter becomes symbol, and the object, ritual
Where Touch Ends
Exhibition and performance of two week artist residency. I used material and physical experimentation to explore how the body can intuitively let go of what once defined it. Flowing from an earlier project in which I researched the effects of touch on our emotions and body, I now explored the moment of letting go, of a touch, a memory, a version of ourselves. What does it look like when the body chooses to release, without knowing what comes after?
Materia C
Transfolab, Materia C, Exhibition and workshops during the 'UAB Trash Days', exhibiting the process of developing a bio material to be used for art installations, made from the locally sourced fruits of the Platanus x Hispanica tree in Barcelona, Spain.
In Passing
Razzmatazz, In Passing, Performance and set design for Echoes, MADNN, Barcelona, Spain. In Passing is a search for human connection: how it forms, what it looks like, and what kind of space encourages it. As I built the set in real time, there was tension between closeness and distance, movement and stillness, resistance and surrender.
In Touch
In Touch, Exhibition and performance, Barcelona, Spain. The performance shows the interplay between body and material, and the effect of touch on the body. Consisting of an embroidered textile piece and a metal box containing the research on touch, the performance moved through different positions and interactions between body and material, showing the journey that one touch can take in our body.

With Guusje de Bruin and Emmy Hermans. Bruges, Belgium.

The Lonely Wardrobe
For the '24 uur Samen Alleen' open source radio livestream at Hubert in Nijmegen, I created the story of 'The Lonely Wardrobe', a performance with a written story projected on the background, about the lonely wardrobe and all that it contains in times like these when most of our clothes are not longer worn and cherished as they used to.
Dit Is Geen Ondergoed Collectie
A project funded by Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie en Schakel025, in collaboration with Guusje the Bruin and other artists. We asked ourselves the following: how can we use our skills in fashion design in an experimental and multidisciplinary way and visualize the multi-faceted concept of femininity, in order to explore and question fashion as a discipline? This will culminate in a performance exhibition at, among other places, the Fashion Design Festival in Arnhem.
