Sing With Your Mouthful
Sing With Your Mouthful - Sing With Your Mouthful - An absurdist performance inviting the audience to take a seat among the performers and eat, sing, talk and break the rules over three courses of an evening banquet. As the dinner proceeds things get messy physically and sonically. Can you eat while singing? Can you gargle with sound? Can you sit still? Can you uphold dining conventions and etiquettes? What happens when you don't? Created by TiSiTi, in collaboration with Eat Your Feelings, performed with Singing Club Rotterdam. Performed at O. Festival 2024, O. Lab, Worm on 26th May 2024, and in Roodkapje on 22nd June 2024.
A Kind Of Light
A Kind Of Light - The 3-hour durational performance A Kind of Light, was a sonic performative response to Jabu Arnell’s installation. Properties of light were used to activate bodies and voices as they relate to liminal spaces in the city. In line with Jabu’s creative process, the performance evolves experimentally, in an interplay between the space, language and sound. Vocalists use the sculptural installation as a graphic score for their singing, accompanied by a collectively written and printed libretto. Composed by TiSiTi: Tara Reece, Ceola Tunstall-Behrens & Tisa World Performed by Singing Club Rotterdam, an anti-choir for all voices. Performed at Amarte X Melly: Resonantie event on 13. 12. 2024 at Kunst Instituut Melly, Rotterdam within the installation Turn off the Lights, Disco Ball #13: A Kind of Black by Jabu Arnell.
Mystery Sessions - Mystery Sessions are playful, participatory encounters of performers and improvisers from various disciplines and mediums (such as movement, music, poetry, acting,...) that I have been conducting at UBIK, Worm. A lightly composed situation emerge in which a multidisciplinary groupation performs - in front of the public. We work primarily with our bodies and voices, and expand our plural presence with a multitude of mediums: from movement to music with poetry towards visual arts; we are expanding our zones of comfort, learning to interact outside of the daily grids, empowering our voices, feeding our imaginations and creating collectively and generously https://worm.org/production/ubik-mystery-sessions/
Let's Keep in Touch - “Let’s keep in touch.” is a sonorous object that consists of a wooden ring and 200 keys swaying and singing. Memories of the past function of the keys linger on as their echo carries them into the present moment. Visitors step inside the circle and I play the keys for them, inducing the feeling of floating, associations of butterflies, angels and magic. The sound of the keys echoes in the space of the de-consecrated church. Listen to the sound documentation of this sonorous object here: https://tisaworld.bandcamp.com/track/the-sound-of-mysteries
Bring me to a place of abundance - Shiomi Kawaguchi plays a traditional Japanese instrument shamisen, flutes and electronics, and I joined her with my voice and text. We have created our duo during my 2-month residency at Petersburg Art Space in Berlin in the spring 2023. Real-time composition playfully interacts with timeless channeling of energies and traditions that we are a part of, merging into a captivating performance that leaves the audience still and silent, and gives an impression of the world-wide humanity that we all share. This is a recording of this exciting new collaborations' first public performance. There will be many more to come.
ona/sie/her - During the temp.tc project under the wings of Transborders festival on a border between Slovenia and Austria, I have created a book called ona/sie/her, a collection of 9 stories told from the perspective of the river Mura that borders the two countries. The river herself tells us about her (hi)story, the way she perceives the border situation, the people and recent events connected to migration and the passing of time. The book has been translated into German and Slovenian, and remade into a multilingual sound piece. The original book is made from old wallpaper, found in the Cmurek castle, dust and soil, ash and charcoal.
Relative Silence at Dawn
Relative Silence at Dawn - Relative Silence at Dawn is an ambient situation in which field recordings, computer-generated sound, a voice, and live-generated video stretch over long time intervals, creating a space for quiet sequences and monotonous pulsations. The performers create a generative organic/synthetic feedback loop between sound (8-channel sound spatialisation by beepblip), live generated video (Lina Rica) and voice (Tisa N. Herlec).
The Scroll - The Scroll was created for daily for a couple solitary months, utilizing the method I call “freewriting”: consistent, deep-focus 15-minutes-long writing session without stopping, never editing what is written. It is an exploration into the subconscious mind, shamelessly shared with the world in an online reading performance. The texts, primarily written on a computer were printed and assembled in a long scroll-like shape, resembling the ancient scroll that served to be read out loud, in front of the people in order to convey information. Here, those information are traces of imaginaries and deep contemplations of solitude.
The Constitution - Master of Experimental Publishing ending exhibition and performance, along with my written thesis were titled as "The Constitution". A collection of thoughts, images, my artwork and a performance saw the light of day at RIB Rotterdam. The Constitution is ever-changing and dynamic. It is the friction between structure and chaos, composition and improvisation, me and the world, ... These tensions arise in many domains of my practice and have been the guides of my research. The Constitution is a totality, struggling to remain a whole, while being recurrently organized into different structures, articulated under diverse terms, inserted into many contexts. All of this while knowing that the map is not the territory and that there is more to the world than reason.
Mysteries publication - During my residency at Destination Unknown 2022 in Venlo, I have written and fabricated a "Mysteries" publication containing texts and images on the topic of mysteries, the voice and the spirit. In addition, I have presented a sound sculpture, as well as curated and performed in three performance evenings. https://tisa.hotglue.me/mysteries/
Tongue Twisters & Other Linguistic Anomalies - Tongue Twisters & Other Linguistic Anomalies is a casette tape release that consists of a collection of tongue twisters in different languages, their translations, intermezzos that resulted from tongues twisting and suggestions - a string of automatically generated text messages sourced from a number of people - and some unexpected music. https://tisaworld.bandcamp.com/album/tongue-twisters-other-linguistic-anomalies
The Constitution: solo vocal performance - The Constitution is a culmination of a year-long research tracing the frictions between structure & chaos, improvisation & composition, self & the world, complexity & simplicity. In this solo improvised vocal performance Tisa is truthful and open to everything that is and everything that resides in mere potentialities. Her masters thesis, as well titled The Constitution is the written back-end of this performance. https://vimeo.com/592697920

Sonoscopia

Locatie: Sonoscopia
In samenwerking met: Maud Buckenmeyer

During a short residency at Sonoscopia in Porto, Tisa World and Maud Buckenmeyer have developped a performance called The shadow, a performance that uses the mediums of voice and body to address the toxicity of relations.

"The Shadow is a performance for two fem bodies and voices that explores the topic of toxicity in relationships. Through spoken word, singing, and sounds of the clarinet, we weave a tale—both intimate and political—about the complexities of human connection."

The Topology of New

Datum:
Locatie: public space and online
In samenwerking met: Journeys International Festival

The topology of new is a text that traces simple fragments of life, actions and encounters that lead towards the feeling of a home in a city that is foreign to the newcomer. This is not a chance encounter was an outdoor and online exhibition that examined what it means to work with stories of (im)migration, looked at encounters that don't happen by chance, and followed the traces of immigration policies that result in displacement globally .

Intertwinement

Datum:
In samenwerking met: Growing Space Wielewaal

This site-specific installation (wool strings intrinsically weaved into a net) is a direct link to a memory of a past. The slow and meticulous process of its creation allows remembering. The live, organic structure that emerges with the action of tying many knots persists to be untamable - in a few weeks hundreds of spiders take the Intertwinement as the base-structure for their nets and inhabit it.
