Tutu Guo (b. 1996, Guilin) grew up in Guangzhou and currently lives and works in Rotterdam. She holds a BA in Transformation Design from the Willem de Kooning Academy. Working primarily with photography, she develops multidisciplinary projects encompassing installation, writing, and textiles. Her practice explores the body, personal memory, transformations in plant life, and the ways individuals are shaped and perceived through social norms, systems of evaluation, and cultural contexts. Combining personal experience with narrative, participatory structures, and material experimentation, she appropriates and transforms familiar symbols and institutional systems to reconsider subjectivity, vulnerability, and failure. Her work has been presented at Rotterdam Photo Festival, the 2025 Guangzhou Image Triennial, House of Lucie Athens, and the Noorderlicht Photography Foundation, and has been selected for the upcoming PhMuseum Days 2026 in Bologna.
