Meliange is a storyteller, maker and dreamer who grew up in Rotterdam with Curacao roots. With her background in Fashion Design and Cultural Sciences, she combines both philosophical and social subjects in her work. Vulnerability, history and healing are central to her artistic work. She does this by using her personal stories.
The message is to be Vocal In Color. The unapologetic presence of minorities in a society. It is the feelings and experiences that I know that I incorporate into my work. Hoping to spark a thought in people who may or may not identify with my embodied knowledge as a person of color living in a Western society.
Through various media such as; crocheting, fashion design, painting, spoken word and poetry, Meliange tries to tell stories, create and dream.
