Tentoonstelling | 150 jaar Nieuwe Waterweg

The exhibition is open until 31 October 150 years of the New Waterway #vanhavennaarstad #vanstadnaarhaven, with work by Florine van Rees (1988) and Vincent Dekkers (1971), on display in the Maastunnel. In honor of the 150th anniversary of the Nieuwe Waterweg, they have photographed life along the banks in recent months.

In the case of Van Rees, this results in a beautiful ode to the multicolored Rotterdammers. Full of colour, prints, accessories such as rings, nail polish, sunglasses, earrings, preferably all at once. Van Rees combines these images with small details or still lifes such as the pulled up stockings of a rugby team on the quarantine beach and the flower boxes of the Ballentent.

Dekkers focused on people who are together. Working together, traveling together or just hanging out. Dekkers: 'This assignment has been a voyage of discovery for me; the city of Rotterdam is really vast in size and has many surprising places. Through this photography I hope to be able to show the generations after us what life in the city looks like now, how we relate to each other. Not only to the river, but also to each other.'

150 years of New Waterway #vanstadnaarhaven #vanhavennaarstad can be seen in the Maastunnel until October 31, 2022.

Changing exhibitionsAfter the renovation of the Maastunnel for cyclists and pedestrians, 40 new photo frames were placed along the escalators of the Maastunnel. Together they form a permanent exhibition† The exhibition changes three times a year. One exhibition consists of the historical images of the Maastunnel and photos of the renovation and restoration. The other two exhibitions are curated annually.

This exhibition is made possible thanks to the Municipality of Rotterdam, Rotterdam City Archives, Flowerdales Agency and CBK Rotterdam.
