Minne Ponsen (b. 1999, Rotterdam), Stadstekenaar Rotterdam 2025, is an artist working in collage, mixed media and drawing. She combines imagery with sourced materials, either from her personal archive or objects with strong connotations. Ponsen views her practice as fiction. She creates scenes about everyday life, relations and societal dynamics. Her concepts are grounded in the belief that, within our unique lives, we share common experiences that form a collective narrative.
In her work, Ponsen explores the border between the autobiographical and the universal. The works balance between the serenity and madness of daily life. They are set within ambiguous surroundings that suggest the private- the domestic and the architectural. At the same time, they create a voyeuristic perspective through a consciously positioned gaze.
Ponsen does not aim to react or solve. Instead, she focuses on processing, copying, pasting and transforming her observations into autofiction.
