In the Dutch house, I cook, self-publishing comic 2026
In the Dutch house, I cook, self-publishing comic 2026 - The comic is developed after my research "(dis)locating (home)land", which is a project that focuses on the socio-cultural experiences of migration from Vietnam to The Netherlands. Its aim is to delve into my encounters with differing social values through food and eating rituals. During the research, I interviewed Southeast Asian, and Asian families, students in The Netherlands to explore culinary narratives, and challenges from their daily cooking practices. From there, I develop this comic to show emotional feelings, questions of uncertainty of home, and belongings, and stories of cooking practices in a foreign kitchen by them. What makes us remember our food? What distance immigrants from their own authentic cuisine in this strange land? Medium: watercolor, gouche, chalk pastel

(dis)locating (home)land - "(dis)locating (home)land" is a research project that focuses on the socio-cultural experiences of migration from Vietnam to The Netherlands. Its aim is to delve into my encounters with differing social values through food and eating rituals. Using an auto-ethnographic method and experimental archiving, I explore culinary narratives to unpack challenges stemming from the uncertainty of practicing ethnic recipes in the context of dislocation
Another life comic - "Another life" is a short comic that illustrates a man's profound dream. It captures a moment of his mundane life when he yearns for a surreal, alternate world.
