By drawing, I try to find ground in the ambiguous reality that surrounds me. I image the complexity of life and detailed impressions that are close to me, with drawings and monotypes.

In drawing, a connection is made between images and emotions. In that process I explore a wider area, giving space to opposing forces that may coexist together: holding vs. releasing, beauty vs. horror, dream vs. reality. With my work I try to do justice to that complexity of life.

    • In collaboration with: Martijn te Winkel
    • Location: Rotterdam, Rotterdam
    • Martijn te Winkel and Astrid de Pauw first collaborated in 2017 under the title Drawing Room. In 2020 she continued this collaboration, resulting in a large triptych: The Soothing Self. The intended continuation of the cooperation was redefined by the Corona crisis. But supported by the CBK Rotterdam, the artists were able to interpret their work in a different way, and now they are working on a new eight part under the title Facing2020ties.

    • Location: Variable, Rotterdam
    • Y/OUR GALLERY organizes exhibitions at different locations in people's homes. Fitting to the specific space of a host, the work of an artist is shown and explained through lectures and performances. Of course with a festive opening and closing.
