Astrid Moors

painting - design - digital technology - interactive - public space

A substantive context of many of my recent works is the appropriation of the forest by man, who sees nature only as a tool, an attraction. Representing the degradation of nature and our living environment in an aesthetic way, seen from a distance and sometimes zoomed in to cell level. In my work, it is never only nature, but what you see is always adapted, changed, molded by man. A poetic field of tension between the two. Layering, in paint and also in meaning.

In my paintings I pay attention to the finesse of a rhythm, the order and repetition. An aesthetic packaging, an approachable, manageable image with a negative connotation. It is precisely that double charge, that non-uniformity, that tension that I find intriguing.

Project

  • 23-03-2023 t/m 17-09-2023
  • Location: in my studio, crowdfunding via voordekunst, rotterdam
  • 20 works were created through crowdfunding: 3 paintings, 8 digital drawings and 9 pencil drawings. From the personal story around tree and house. In terms of content, the work is about the exciting interaction between nature and people: what do we do, where do we live, how does nature survive... because without trees we cannot exist. But without a roof over our heads, life is also uncertain.

Five artists: Maritsa van Luttikhuizen, Debbie Voerman, Astrid Moors, Rolina Nell and Ludmilla van der Spoel have created new work especially for this exhibition and give their own interpretation of the white woman. One woman is not the other, there is a great ambiguity in the stories about the white women.

  • In collaboration with: Marja van Putten
  • Location: PLAYroom, Zaandam
  • It is time to do this exhibition together with men. We therefore expect more confrontation, a wider audience and a renewed interest in the theme. The 16 women are the curators of the duo for this exhibition and invite their companions. The woman / man contrast is broadly defined, so not necessarily dualistic. It produced a multifaceted image.

  • Schwarzmalen is a critical (painting) project about public participation and crowdfunding. With Schwarzmalen we question the call for public participation and cooperation in the creation of a work of art. We also include the much-suggested possibility of financing the 'creative industry' with crowdfunding in the project. Schwarzmalen had 3 editions, see the website:
