Carla Feijen

communication - education - installation - objects

Carla Feijen is a visual artist and designer. Her free work is about harmonious relationships and the spatial experience thereof.

She calls her profession 'Mythographer'. The word is a contraction of the concepts of 'myths', archetypes, patterns and blueprints as products of consciousness, and 'graphic', the imprinting of ideas into material reality.

She designs paper constructions, folding them from square, five-, six- and octagonal sheets of paper, using the geometry that logically arises from the act of folding and that corresponds to the geometry of nature.

She gives workshops on how folding techniques are applied in art and design, architecture and science.

She leads research workshops in which geometry in architectural spaces and in settings with people are experienced. She developed a construction kit made of bamboo, with sticks in golden ratio proportions, to build constructions in which you can experience the geometry of space.
