The Overpainting

Project

  • 24-03-2003
  • In collaboration with: De Ziechouw
  • Location: Witte de Withstraat 80b, Rotterdam
  • 'The Overschilderschilderij' (oil paint, 50cm x 60 cm, 2002-present) Daan den Houter has been inviting artists since May 24, 2002 to make an oil painting on the same canvas. Each painting is shown for 1 week in the smallest gallery in Rotterdam: De Aanchouw (Witte de Withstraat 80b, Rotterdam). Then the canvas goes to the next painter for a new layer. In 2012 this work was nominated for the Royal Dutch Painters Award.

  • Location: Almondestraat, Rotterdam
  • Pension Almonde is a temporary home for urban nomads and neighborhood initiatives, a place to sleep for those who have to be in Rotterdam, a starting point for international guests looking for a place and a place to stay for social and cultural neighborhood initiatives that have lost their place in the neighborhood. The guesthouse creates a shared space for meeting, which, in addition to sharing practical facilities, also creates the opportunity to build networks that shape the social fabric of the city.
