Ieneke van der Kooy

artistic research - history - urban - archives - environment

City maps are the starting point in my work. My work plays with the visibility and invisibility of histories within the map.
For this I use different media and techniques such as: edited photos, reliefs, drawings, embroidery, three-dimensional work in stone and papier-mâché, video and music.

  • Commissioned by Theia Foundation, part of Zilveren Kruis, to make a bronze sculpture as a token of appreciation for departing board members. Theia is a Rotterdam foundation with a heart for the health of Rotterdammers. The sculpture has a Rotterdam side where the new heart with its buildings, streets and squares fills the fire boundary. The other side of the image is organic, a beating heart with lifelines that nourish Rotterdam society with health.
