Karin Stroo

conceptual - sculpture

Karin Stroo creates to understand life. In her video films she investigated movement and light and rhythm and their emotional meaning, and soul stirrings in her drawings. She now tries to incorporate these things into her 3D images. To make it earthier, more solid to the ground.

Her work reflects on society.

Fascinating matters are explored and reduced to what matters to her as a result of research; essential image or word. Sometimes it is thin: with few resources. Boundaries and their vulnerability (also of the medium itself) are explored. Simplicity. Humour. Lyrical sometimes.

Sometimes it is raw and direct.

The projects and exhibition concepts question man's existence. She views emotions as access to the soul. She has been working with a shaman since 2016.

Text is part of her work.

In 2021/2023 she was project coordinator culture/visual artist in urban projects in five Zeeland cities - see www.creativecityboostzeeland.nl
