Luuk Bode

abstract - mural

Luuk Bode uses a powerful, clear visual language that has undergone the necessary developments over the years, but is still very recognizable.
Bode graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam as an illustrator. His earlier work was figurative and strongly rooted in pop culture. Pop icons and street culture were important sources of inspiration. The metropolitan environment, with angular skylines, road markings, and (semi-decayed) street art has since become an increasingly important part of his work. Bode continued to magnify the characteristics of these elements, making his works of art increasingly monumental and abstract. In recent years, the great painters of the 20th century have increasingly influenced his work. This has resulted in a visual language of hard, geometric and graphic shapes, which leads to a world of strength and vitality, where structure and chaos are brought into balance.
