Marco Douma

audiovisual - video - sound - drawing

Visual artist who focuses on moving images and sound. In his video work and video installations, viewers are guided to a moment of contemplation. A moment to withdraw from the hectic of daily reality and get away from trivial thoughts and worries. In his work he defines the indefinable space. The space where foreground and background dissolve into each other.
What inspires him is the sensation of slowing down movements, rhythm and colors in (everyday) nature and surroundings. Often close by. You see them in a split second, a delayed image that stops your thoughts for a moment. As if the world stands still for a moment. He captures these moments and works them out. He wants to emphasize the sensation he experiences by making the moment last longer and transforming it into fluid movements. The delay acts as a catalyst to remove yourself from your surroundings within seconds. Time and space dissolve.
