The work of Marguerite de Geus shows us a world, her world, in which the esoteric and the spiritual play an important role. A world in which man is not placed above, but in the middle of nature, and where the intuitive takes precedence over the rational and the cerebral.
Marguerite's paintings are dreamy and enigmatic. They are based on photography sessions with the people we often see appear several times in her paintings and collages, sessions without a script or preconceived plan. Her subjects seem to undergo a ritual unknown to us, often lying down, surrendering to the environment and to the actions of the artist. The surrender in these sessions is not about resignation or passivity, but about trust, about closeness and intimacy, about being open to the unknown.
