diversity

For my artwork I find inspiration in traveling to different countries, including China, Mongolia, Honduras, Mexico and India. I find these countries interesting because the traces of the past have not disappeared in everyday life, but are often left in their raw and original state. Silent witnesses of human activities in the present but especially in the past. The history that can be read in finds. I call them 'archaeological observations' and the resulting work is a hushed residue. I want to pass on my impression of the observations to the rest of the world.
Besides photos I use various media such as metal, wood, copper, felt collage drawings, graphic prints for the final work. By using different techniques side by side, the context seems to shift and the artwork becomes more self-contained. Sometimes compositions seem to have gone through life in that capacity for a long time.
